  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED Pro Prime set FAQs

Their support, coupled with their site which had thousands of candid pictures of their employees, coupled with all their weird off beat wording used to make me think they were a cult that worked out of a camp in a jungle... I swear, it really did.

mmm.. sounds kinda like RED :)

heheheheheheh.

I see them more like the Heaven's Gate people, and you guys party in Vegas eating tiramisu and make amazing products... the diametrical opposite of those weirdos IMO. :)

(Sorry, I deleted my last post cause I thought it was a bit graphical in my depiction of how different the end of their movie would be)

As stated elsewhere, a lens projector does not tell you everything... but we think it speaks much louder than a spec sheet. At least the language of the lens projector is consistent.

Amen! I'll take a projector and my eye over a MTF chart any day.

Can't believe Dreamhost spam filtering grabbed email from RED regarding RPP lens & moved it to spam. When I white list, nothing in inbox and can't find it in spam either. Seems they are having a big problem with their spam filtering tonight. Hopefully they fix it soon.

Why not use Google service on DH?

That's what I do now.

I still have nightmares about Dreamhost. If I could I would sue them.

What happened?

Enlighten me please. I got an email yesterday from RED... it was stuck in Dreamhost Junk Filter. I checked it for whitelisting/inbox. After doing that nothing in inbox and nothing in Junk Filter. Noticed that they reported having a problem with Junk Filter. This must be a problem on going for 24 hours now. Mind you that I've received many RED emails prior to this one. Don't know why that one was listed as junk. Very frustrating. O' well... I emailed Brian to send me another one.

Not to derail this thread but I'd love to hear why you think Dreamhost is so bad, since I've been using them for years and they've been fantastic in their support and very responsive.

Start a new thread in Off Topic if you like or PM me.

Cheers,

Paul

Got the email from Brian and I'm happy as heaven that I made the reservation back in may 07. Would be happier if I had made it at NAB in 07... but O' well seems like RED will be rocking with production of these.

Andrae - do you have any other RED bodies than #1888? I only ask because we've got #329 and I haven't received any emails from RED about the RPPs. Really don't want to miss out.

Has anyone else with a serial after #329 received an email?

I think it's because he reserved the Red Prime Set back then, not his camera serial number.

Ahh yes - good call. I'll calm down now and start hitting refresh on the online store for the next 9hrs

You also don't have to worry about being first in line for the online store. After the original reservations like Andrae's are filled, they will then go by camera serial #. Doesn't matter when you place your order, as long as it is within a week from when they go online (Tonight!).

From Jarred's post somewhere back in this thread, I think they're emailing all those with reservations first. Then they will fill new orders of RPPs based on camera number, or more appropriately I think camera delivery date. From what Jim has posted, it seems the RPP orders will get taken care of really quick, like their anticipated orders from NAB should be filled by the end of July.
