  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Nick, just did my monthly call to check, spoke to Brian (who I believe also spoke to you) and I'm told there might be some love for me next week? On the basis of that hope, I'm going to order flags...

One observation: the accessories for these boxes do seem to be trickling out *very* slowly; we're still waiting on side flags, additional clip-on ring sizes, rotating stage, swing-away rail mount etc... any chance of some progress on those? I mean there's nothing fancy about them, it's simple enough technology compared to a camera or EVF, and the entire engineering staff can't be tasked with scaring up parts for EPIC... :-)

Can we get an update on the RP Matte box universe please? Anything more on the planned 95mm (or 80mm?) adapter rings, swing away (or otherwise) rod support or rotating stages and when the MB itself might be out of backorder?

soon.. sorry guys for the lack of info. We had a small problem with the carbon fiber process that we had to resolve over the last couple weeks... we are out of that next week and hope to start shipping them again the week after. 95mm rings are still coming.. prototypes are being tested in the field.
 
ha ha I am making it a personal mission to take better care of our European brothers when it comes to inventory... its hard on some of the really limited stuff as the pre-orders or deposits usually fall heavily on the North American side.. but it will get better.
 
you would need to use the 15mm rods attachment and use donuts to close off the gaps between insert and lens as needed.
 
Couple of quickies:

1. I knew this once but have forgotten: what's the diameter of the clamp-on? Without any rings installed I mean.

2. Other bits were due... side flags, swing-away mount, additional ring sizes etc.. Can anyone from RED provide an update on their availability?

3. Thinking about 1. and 2., is there any reasons rings from another company e.g. Arri wouldn't work if RED don't yet supply all the needed sizes?

Matteboxes are shipping out... had a bit of a backorder build up there we are taking care of but should be back in the store in stock soon.
