  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED PRO Mattebox

Well, please make a mattebox for Scarlet for the rest of us that use a polarizer and a grad filter that NEED to be rotated. Even chrosziel after all of these years finally introduced a 2 stage rotating mattebox after listening to customers.

I guess I will trade in my old 1 stage rotating mattebox on something else.
Will a new Chosziel work on a scarlet, I hope?

Or I hope, RED will offer a Scarlet dual rotating stage mattebox.:attention9ha:

This Mattebox is modular.. like almost everything else we make. There will be add on stages.. rotating stages.. all sorts of things are in the pipe. But next week, what you see here is what you get. :)

of course.. if you ever give me one of those stupid pay attention icons again, i might just take that all back ;)

Modular Mattebox. Interesting concept - I definitely like it. As someone who will likely be starting out on the ground floor of RED ownership, it's great to know that there is additional capability built in to pretty much everything.

And to quote a great...

heh heh heh...

Thanks Jarred,

Just not sure, why RED didn't start out with FREE for All Rotating stages to start. Maybe, that will be the surprise at NAB. Epic and Scarlet - small and modular - were what I wanted my #217... to be (if you read my old posts)... glad to see them coming... I just wanted a modern mattebox to match. Hey, never new those icons work - shoulda used them years ago. ;-)

Ahahahahahaha!!
Ohh shit I was laughin at that one..
Thank you Jarred, for bringing me out of my lurking and back to the forum..
And for the laugh, which made my night.

No disrespect intended toward you Greg
I Just enjoyed the playful humor

No rotating stages!?

No rotating stages!?

I am a big proponent of Red and it's cameras. That said, no rotating stages!? For this reason alone I am not interested. I can't rotate my streak filter and other specialty angle dependent filters? 100% no go for me.

That's what Jarred said on this page.

Am I the only one who wonders if people forget that their real name is posted beside each and every one of their posts? :eek6:

I don't think that comment will damage my reputation too much, because everyone who knows me is already aware of 1 my junk works , 2, I am a camera/tech geek and 3 under the right conditions (usually some combination of sleep deprivation and a couple glasses of wine) I occasionally post stupid (though slightly amusing) comments that I will later regret making . But I digress. I wonder how much the matte box weighs ( I can't wait to replace my red rock micro mb)

ha ha ha streak filter? really? my lord. I was sure those all got shipped to a remote island many, many years ago and turned into CocaCola bottles.

no problem Rob. More than happy for you to move on.. i promise my feelings wont be hurt :)

and for the rest of you.. if you decide to put a streak filter in our mattebox.. no matter how clever or creative you think you are being... your warranty is void.

heh heh heh.

Some people are never happy. If you want rotating stages, 138mm, 15 and 19mm, swing-away just buy an MB-20, they are available and shipping and work perfectly.

This is a different beast, made for lightweight use.
I want one just as it is. When can we order? :hurray:

Give the web team a bit to put it up on the website... i kinda surprised them with this post :)

And you are correct.. people asking for a big swing away mattebox with 6 rotating trays etc. etc. etc. are best to pick up something else. This is, as you said, a lightweight clamp on mattebox, for use much like the LMB-5 or any other lightweight mattebox is designed for..

I'm with you.

Low mass options are most welcome.

MB-14/18/20 are nice, too - but those are different beasts for different applications.

Wow ! those matteboxes look amazing !!! And 1200$ is quite the right price, not few but not too much.
