  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED ONE, The True Workaholic..

447? thats it? hmmm it seems like so much more. Can you tell us what all the other info on the screen is... Particularly the dates? I have one that says 2008 can't figure out what it means, especially as jarreds says a 2010 date in the same spot.
 
Wait until tomorrow, here in Slovakia is 0:37 time now, tomorrow i will check some of our RED's :o)
with 2 REDs we have 3 TV seasons series and some movies behind us... :o))
i am realy curious , how many ours it will be...

I won't give my hours...pretty embarrassing compared to these numbers :)

I'm glad i decided to go EPIC stage 2!

My R1 should give me a "couple" more years of loyal and trustable services :)

About crazy stories, my Red has been water abused last year.

We were shooting in front of a café, right under the 6 meters sunshade. It was raining small drops for hours and a tech see the sunshade full of water starting to bend because of the weight. So he takes a broom and smashes the sunshade without realizing the Red was right under.

About 10l of water on the Red, battery, LCD, and some drops on the lens, FF, and matteboxes.

Of course, I had protected the Red... but for small drops ! There were some leaks, and the water flowed inside nicely.

We shut it down immedialtly, took a hair dryer, dry shirt and start cleaning the mess. 10 minutes later, we started to shoot again. 3743 has been flawless ever since.

Well ... the counters were reset on both Elvis (#006) & Bond (#007) - but those two cameras have shot in 10 countries (including Iraq) and 9 states and work every damn day. The have shot underwater, in helicopters, planes, technocranes, a sinking boat in the ocean, on a glacier - etc. etc.

Let's put it this way - our newest (youngest) Red One camera has over 1400.

At this very moment - Elvis is A camera on the feature film My Idiot Brother with Paul Rudd and Bond is A camera on the CBS series BLUE BLOODS with Tom Selleck and Donnie Wahlberg.

They are hardcore workaholics.

Whenever my cellphones fall into water I put them in a bag of rice for 24 hours and it dries it out nicely. Wonder if that would work with a Red body?
 
I'm traveling without a camera right now, so can't give numbers. I'm nowhere near the front-runners on this anyway. I know the meter was reset on my RED ONE with the audio board upgrade, I had about 430 hours on it at that time and it came back as a zero. This year I have been using other peoples' RED ONES more than my own.
 
#242 - the body that shot Van Diemen's Land (epic.red.com) , amongst several other features and endless TVCs... And still going strong.

2612 hours. Apologies for the sideways picture...

Well I'm not sure about the hours but we just wrapped "The Gates" yesterday and the three MX bodies (including my #199) went 20 straight weeks of shooting, sometimes in 100+ degree, 100%+ humidity without overheating or failing once. Other than a few black balances I only had to reinstall the firmware on one camera, and on the second to the last day of shooting. It was back in top form 20 min. later.

I nicknamed my camera the "Mailman" cause neither rain, nor sleet nor snow nor the brutal Louisiana summer could keep it from delivering the checks :biggrin:
 
Can we count all the hours that we've logged in our dreams?

There is no doubt that RED as a company and all their products they have created and will create in the future are changing and will continue to change the world of production.

Sorry if that sounds all a bit fanboy-ish. I just know real vision when I see it.
