  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED MINI MAG , MINI MAG SIDE MODULE and MINI MAG STATION now shipping.

Ok, here is the deal. If you ALREADY have an aluminum DRAGON with DRAGON engraved on your Side SSD Module AND you have purchased a Side SSD Module (Mini-mag), you need to let your rep know before it ships to you unengraved. You rep will cancel your line item for the standard Mini-mag Side SSD Module and replace it with a part number for one engraved. Yours will be engraved and shipped out.

We will ONLY do this for people who have confirmed DRAGON cameras (ie, already received) or here at RED for sensor upgrade. Only via their rep...

This is moot for carbon fiber SSD modules, all say DRAGON.

Yes, there will be a carbon fiber option so people ordering carbon fiber DRAGONs will eventually be able to chose which recording medium they want.

Am I right that a potential swap to carbon mini ssd module for our ordered carbon is a while out, but the regular stuff is ready to hit the streets?

Does the new Carbon side mini SSD module weigh less than the larger one? The form factor appears to be the same... And how about for the mini SSD cards?

Do the new mini mag readers transfer data faster for backup ?

I see esata is now 6G but will USB3 be faster too? Wasn't the old bottleneck the cards ?

Side SSD's modules are about the same. Cards the larger mags weigh 94 grams and the Mini-Mags weigh 49 grams.

Hi Jared,
The new CF no cost side, Mg++, SSD module changeout is great, except for media cost, which can change, of course. How imminent is the Mini Mg++, please?
