  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red Magazine

Now that's a great idea, both in print and online based.

Wasn't that started (?) with the

RED DIGITAL CINEMA
"Twenty Fourteen"

The book which was released last year at NAB, but sadly did not found a "Twenty Fifteen" part?

But yes, the Wolf-Mag should be in the Red Store, with a nice subscription price for RED owners.

Cant see any production infos in wolf magazine.Looks like more fashion photography based

For that I have the ACS mag as a subscription.

More BHS material is always welcomed!

BTW, backing up some Kickstarter projects, some people really deliver BHS material... worth alone the support.

well - the RED Collective Series of videos - featuring RED shooters - is the current version of a RED Magazine. RED produces about 3~4 of these a year at this point...

Literally if someone "seriously" edited once a quarter some of the great stuff on reduser, you'd have some excellent articles & a great magazine. (i.e. thread on x99, threads on medium glass, basically anything David Mullen says, recent film threads with technical comments, recent commercial threads with technical comments, etc). I btw constantly am reading some of the old reduser articles (was just reading something on matte boxes by D. Mullen explaining the history of a matte box and a bunch of others had great comments - these threads "from the old days" have some great stuff that is still very relevant).

My preference on a magazine would be a bit more technical, and explores the RED vision (i.e. DSMC ... i'm not sure everyone really even gets that concept, i think it could really use a article on how stills and motion camera "merge" has been changing the industry).

Publish once a quarter.

In depth technical interviews with cinematographers, DITs, colorists.

It would be a huge hit and target serious professionals who can't take the pain that Reduser dishes out now and then :)

Make it as technical as possible. Interviews + BTS images.

Yes!... +1

A manufacturer magazine has a commercial purpose wich REDUSER allready summs it up.
Speaking about cinematography bound to one particular manufacturer is a poor perspective. Like the Kodak one wich you know won't ever speak about the problems using their tech.

Now if RED wants to sponsor an independant Magazine wich even could speak about WC products or Sony products... this would be a great moove from them showing that they aren't affraid of other tech! ;-)

100% disagree.

Reduser is awesome for people who like forums.

But MANY professional folks would rather read a well written technical article or interview than dig through post after post and try to luck into the best content.

Here's a perfect example - http://www.arri.com/magazines

EXTREMELY well done - and folks love it.
