Maybe this doesn't apply to the OP's situation, but my gut feeling is that the Scarlet is going to end up being the deal of the century. Why? Because when asked about the board and sensor upgrade for the Scarlet to the Dragon Sensor, Jim said it would not cost as much as the camera (Scarlet). I read this to mean that for less than 20,000 dollars (camera body and upgrade), a Scarlet owner can end up with a camera that will probably outperform current Epic cameras that cost way more. Of course, Epics will perform even better when upgraded so they will still be the better performer, but for the total investment vs. performance the Scarlet will the superior bargain.

And even before the Dragon, I think, upcoming firmware updates might unleash a different beast from both the Epic and Scarlet... This is of course speculation on my part...

I don't know what's the use of comparing Epic to a 9000 USD video camera. You know, there is one thing that your Epic cannot do what my android phone can, to go into my pocket when it is necessary

Tru that - but then I try not to bring a knife to a gun fight. When you're in the business of being in business you do what it takes to be the best. There is always room in the market for the highest quality. For this project I hauled 8 check bags from SoCal to NYC. Could have traveled lighter as you suggest. No regrets from looking at the amazing results. RED rocks
