RED in Sweden

Wow cool...

I must say to anyone out there who hasen`t yet had the good fortune of meeting and working with dmartos that you are in very proffesional and friendly hands!

Ciao,

Dogday.

Hello Ryo,

We have a base in Stockholm, and although in September we have a job in Italy and another in the Himalayas we can arrange to meet up and be the "local Red friends" you are willing to find in Sweden. If not all the other guys at red4k.se and ljud and bild are really friendly, I'm sure you'll be alright.

I can recommend some good lighting, camera, art and production crew if you need local crew. Here in Sweden (as you can see from the photographs bellow) it's all about having fun, taking it easy, enjoying the shoots and going home with some 1st class footage.

Email or give a call if you need advise in arranging things before the trip: Stockholm number: 08 50164807. You may also reach me through the New York access number if you're in the states: 347 7897988.

Best wishes, Daniel Martos (Cine Digital Canarias)

Thanks Daniel,

Will be in touch. Do you have rain covers by any chance? And thanks for the links. How cold does it get there? I better go shopping for some warm clothes...

dmartos: Excellent footage Daniel! Seems you have been having a blast. Its time for a new user meeting btw. Let me know if you have any time available since your going abroad! I need some monitor hoods from your wife btw ;) So I hope you can persuade her to start selling some :)

Ryo: Its about 16 degrees most of the daytime.. Im still wearing a t-shirt during the days. Down in Trosa it might get a bit colder though I guess, since its right by the sea. It will get pretty chilly in the evenings too.

I haven't seen anyone with special "red" raincovers yet, so I think you have to get something else. If you need any assistance you can call me at +46-70-742 22 83 and I can call the local rental companies, and see what they suggest. I also got red spareparts. My camera is having a repair over at Red HQ, so I think it will be stuck there for a while :/ So I got some gear, that I can't use right now anyway. If you still need Zeiss lenses, you can give your fellow country man Kevin Jones a call (He is living in Stockholm). You'll get his phonenumbers over at www.alamofilms.com (Nice update on the webpage btw Kevin!)

Best of luck to you!

/Regards Peter K * CGS

Anyone knows if I should have RED write down the custom codes or if I communicate that with Fed Ex? Got the letter today:)

Anyone intrested in a job backing up here in Sweden. Working on Set and backing up material? Creating proxies for the AVID and a general helping hand whilst waiting for cards or drives?...

PM me

Looking good, Daniel. Call me if you need a wingman or an extra camera on a shoot :-)

RED Night

RED Night

I just talked to Peter and we thought it would be a good idea to get together again soon to talk some RED. One thing we'd like to do is to compare colors and picture quality of different REDs to see how they differ. Along with some general red speak of course. Come by if you have a RED, or if you don't, come by to see what RED is all about!

We'll get together on Thursday Sep 18 at 7pm at Peter's office:
CG Sweden
Brännkyrkagatan 103B

Map:

Also: if there is someone with a car - I know Kevin could use a ride from Skeppsholmen, since - if he can make it - has two REDs to bring...

Inga problem Janne!

Please let us know who are coming! I got most red accessories and a O'Connor 2060HD tripod and a 26" Samsung LCD that we can use. But bring Red bodies, lenses and any fun accessories that might be of interest for others (test charts are welcome).

I've got troubles with vertical banding on the sensor (Atleast thats, what I've found. I just got it back from repair from Red, but Im very interested in measure my Red against others to see that everyones camera got 100% image quality).

I'll be there Peter.. I plan on bringing both cameras
see ya

Right now I'm looking into which different insurance options I have for my equipment. Things that I want to be covered:

- when the equipment is inside the office
- when it's rented out
- when i'm using it for my own stuff
- worldwide coverage

Right now it seems like Gefvert will offer the best solution, but Trygg Hansa and Länsförsäkringar might be options too. Gefvert's worldwide "objekförsäkring" is 12 450kr on a 300 000kr investment - if you join OFF (www.off.se) - joining OFF might be a good idea anyway (it's 1200kr/year which includes free legal help and advice). Initially the Gefvert insurance wouldn't cover the gear if I or someone in the company would not be present, but after talking to them I'm getting a pretty good deal: I will provide them with a list of names (that I will keep updated) of people I trust to handle the camera - and it's enough if someone on this list is with the equipment.

I would be interested in hearing if people have any input on this - for instance:

- experience with Gefvert
- what this type of insurance should cover
- what it doesn't need to cover
- other companies that might be an option
- should an insurance also cover for downtime during repair and maintenance?
- should it cover for damages caused by the camera - or is that usually covered by the production company's own insurance?
- what about excess (självrisk)? - how much should it be to be ok?
- are there good and affordable options outside of Sweden that would be an option for me who lives in Stockholm?

See some of you tonight at Peter's!

-Olle-
