  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Red in OZ

David,
Great you are setting up com for Red. I've been based in London for the past 20 years but am making the move back to Sydney this year. I'm a director/cameraman working strictly in documentary. I've ordered a RED and expecting end of 2007. I'll be doing a prelim shoot in Indonesia on a science film in June for 2 weeks. If anyone is up for renting it would be great to test it. I have my Canon Super 16mm lenses from my Aaton kits so would be shooting 2K. Look forward to meeting people if that's possible when I get out there late May.
Best to all,
Chris Hooke (chris@periscopefilms.com)
PS any Red users in desperate need of accomodation in North London June through to August give me a buzz on e-mail

Hi

I am clearly in for any local user group. This weekend is out for me - i have a 4 day Viper shoot. But next week is good.

We have offices at Crows Nest - if anyone needs a meeting space in Sydney.

thanks

Mike

Hey guys,

I am currently in negotiations to develop and implement fully digital workflows (hopefully with the Red) for 2 up and coming feature productions (My last studio position was Technical Supervisor on Superman Returns). One is to be shot in August, and one in November.

It is still very early days, but the one that is slated to shoot in August is from a fairly big Aussie director. Our camera (#1084) is not scheduled for delivery until early October, so that will rule it out of the first shoot. We would also need 2 cameras for that shoot, as there will be a second unit, and a B-cam when only main unit is shooting.

So my question is, is anybody that is lowish on the res list, interested in having a talk about possibly supplying their rig for this ? The timing is tight, obviously because we don't have a relaible schedule for delivery yet, and have no way to start work on a workflow for a little while at least, but I will need to start bringing resources together soon if I'm to convince them to go Red (They walked out of our last meeting where I screened them the milkgirls footage, saying "if only the camera was going to be here in time) :ninja:

Seth.

Sorry about being late getting back to you...
Yes we'd be interested in talking...
We expect our RED may/June (30 days after the first "beta" early adopter set).
email me off list if you like mikes@fxguide.com

Most of you have already seen the message regarding an email list of people interested in australiasian Red user group ….about 2 dozen of you.
But for whatever reason apologies if you I haven’t contacted you via pm or email!

If you haven't the email list comprises of name, city, email, telephone, reduser id, skype id, other details and will be sentout on a regular basis to all on it...until we come up with a better option.....

Note: Only add what details you're happy to release to other members.

So if you haven’t and want to please forward me with details you wish to include.

Also a user group name sounds a good start!

RED-ANZ
ANZ-RUG
RUG-ANZ
ARUG
COLOR CLUB

Any suggestions......please?

Cheers,

Dave

David, count me on the email list, I'll send you my details.

Shall we make the user group name the same as the website name .. ?

REDAUS (for Australiasian ?)

Umm..

REDEANZ (Red Experts Australia NZ)

ANZRUA (Australia NZ Red Users Association)

DURUG (Down Under Red User Group) pronounced DRUG, it is just this project has become a little addictive.

I do really like REDAUS ...eg. www.redaus.net .. just because it's easy to spell.
Might look too much like 'Australia' than 'Australasia' though ? I guess if we have a aus user website it doesn't have to have the same name as the user group ? um..

No it sounds like it's just for Aussies

.... if the group of red oceanic guys / and girls split from the downunder red users group, we can have a GROG & DRUG night......hey I'm just trying to help!

David, great to talk to you on the phone today. I think we covered some good points.

All, (As has been mentioned) I am interested in setting up an Australiasian/Oceanic/Pacific Red User web board for all of us "down under". I'd like to know what you all think would be useful/desirable in a web board. The way I see it, we can use a community to organise and share information not only about Red's technical details, but also about things that are relevant to us as a community. Ie, local events, user Footage/Films, Seminars, employment, anything else ..

I'd like to start it off by collating (hopefully with some help), some of the more important technical information from RedUser.net (With Jarred's permission of course), in order to get together a bit of a cente of knowledge that we can build on. I feel like a format similar to RedUser.net's own (vBulletin), would be an appropriate way to start. Of course, RedUser.net will always be the first port of call for all of us re: news and a wider scope forum, but what I'm suggesting would be something aimed at our local community user needs.

I'd love to know what you all think of this, I feel that something along those lines could benifit us all. Please feel free to add ideas, requests, etc. Or to just let me know if you think it's a good idea or not.

Also, keep coming with the User Group names.. We can use this for both the User Group, and the Web board..

My pick so far is REDPACIFIC .. eg, www.redpacific.net

Cheers,
Seth.
