Well, since it worked with Redmote. Let's try Red GUnner.

My guess is, that it's an advanced "Brain Cooling System" specifically designed for shooting high frame rates.

This theory is based on Jim's earlier post below related to the tremendous amount of heat that is generated when shooting fast frame rates.

There are a ton of things that have to be solved to get real high frame rate large sensor motion. Heat and processing are two of them. Jim

Especially looking at this render... where those two white tubes look like cooling lines going into the brain.

On the other hand, red and white are typical indicators of either L and R Stereo inputs... meanning its a shot gun microphone that doubles as a hand mount...

OR. Red and White = Positive and Negative. Meaning its a battery holder/doubling as a mount.

Anyone else have a guess?

I have no idea where to start???... Zacuto makes some gunners for dslr's that look like cap guns :)

Why not all three?

Could be that those cables/hoses you see are not the only things that can come out and connect to the camera.

Maybe mic holder/ extra power / cooling system too?

EDIT: I think there should also be a mini-bar configuration for after the shoot or when working on really stressful shoots. :) Only the best single malt scotch, of course........

It is so difficult to tell. What do the numbers mean? Is it just a battery and extra storage but in a different configuration?

If I was making a grip to act as a hand-held help, providing extra support for Epic/Scarlet, I would put gyros in it.

And if does not have gyros then I'll eat my cheese sandwich (with tomatoes, lettuce and mayonnaise on gluten free bread).

I highly doubt it's a cooling system let alone with high frame rate cooling in mind.

How often are slow-mo shots done in a hand-held configuration for starters?

The red and white cables would more than likely be for record trigger functionality and a possible lens/iris control system I'd imagine.

Hopefully it doesn't look to much like a real rifle stock, guerilla shoots would be a real hazard running around with the RED gun if that's the case. :gnorsi:

I would say it is a lens control system that can accommodate lens gears and communicate with the camera's AF. Jim said that the manual RPP set would be a perfect match for Epic. Since AF will be a major part of the new cameras it makes since to extend this to Red's own mechanical lenses. I predict DSLR style auto-focus controlled by Red Gunner with manual override via touch screen and a traditional follow focus knob. Also, Jim said it was Dennan's greatest design, and if you haven't noticed that guy is a badass, so I know it's going to be amazing.

I'd be down for a nice Red designed shotgun mic too, but I would it would be smaller and open to more modular placement.

Definitely something that hooks up lenses to brains, so I'm thinking along the same lines as Josh...one of those tubes for focus data, one for iris? And RED mentioned a sick handheld configuration, so the lens in the front with all the other modules functioning as counterweight, higher and further back, would also fit with the GUNNER designation...

No doubt it will blow us all away...

guessing for audio and visual. The top of the gun has wholes like mini xlr's and probably also bnc or lcd/evf ports...

Though thats just a guess...3 days...all shall be revealed...hopefully its 12am on the 30th and not like midday heh...can you imagine the stress the servers will get if it was midday!

Actually he said its "Matt's" finest work. I still think its an ION CANNON for disabling Canon's and Nikon's in the immediate area.

Yes, I meant Matt. Thanks for the correction Tim. They are both superheroes!

I believe the RED Gunner to be a device that sends out happiness-inducing radiowaves (operating at the same frequency as the lower brain does) towards the back of the camera. Whenever someone is exposed to the Epic's images, s/he will experience an uncontrollable feeling of purified happiness.

I also believe that we'll find out more in less than 2 days.
