  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

One consideration would be additional hardware required to either have priority, switch, or disable the menu system between two connected displays. Power draw could be also consideration.

Either way, the additional components would add cost.

Not saying that's why, but certainly possible reasons.
 
For WC there is a market for a pass through as they have two versions. As mentioned a combo top plate would likely cost more $. I think an extra 15% - 25% to get the functionality/flexibility would be a nice option over RED making a second top plate with pass through. I`d pay a bit more if it meant not swapping out top plates. Ideally a smart top plate that can auto detect signal and route as needed or worse case a switch.

IMO this plate is not designed for you. This is for those of us who use the Pro LCDs with lemo only. Personally I dont like the hinged mounts with pogos, they are limiting and awkward. We always mount our monitors on arms, so this plate is perfect for that type of configuration. My guess is that RED will introduce a separate plate for the hinged monitors. A top plate trying to do both is just too much imo.

Brent, is the angle of the EVF port fixed or can we rotate it to our desired angle (even if in xx° increments would be great)?
 
Build quality has defiantly gone up a notch...received a top plate and Canon VV mount today and they are both very well done. The top plate is a heavy beast though.

Does the Lemo adapter A fit on the operator side while the top plate is attached?

Yes, we designed the left rear 3/8-16 mounting point so that there would be clearance for a LEMO Adaptor A on the operator side of the camera.

Now I'm waiting for a new DSMC2 EVF mounting solution that extends the EVF higher and further to the back of the camera. I know Red has something up their sleeve...
 
Lots to like about the new top plate. One thing to be aware of. If you have anything on the dumb-side (Red Handle or Latitude for example) you HAVE to use a straight Lemo out of the plate. A right angle Lemo points down, and only works if that side of the camera has nothing there. I inquired about possibly rotating the input, but RED said that was not possible. It's a puzzling and unfortunate choice in my opinion. But otherwise I'm liking it.
 
On the top face and front edge, the 1/4-20's from left to right (orthogonal to optical axis) are Red-standard 9mm spaced.

On the top face and operator/dummy edges, the 1/4-20's from front to back (parallel to optical axis) are 10mm spaced.

I don’t understand why this was designed this way :confused1:
