As a new KX user I found the feature to load reference-images over the preview a huge advantage, is great help for the 1. AC and helps to avoid continuity errors. The app itself is the best I've found for years to control the camera and is one of the 1+ USPs for DSMC3, despite the global shutter.

Unfortunately it only works flawless on one of my three android devices. At present I'm confused and may hope if someone has made same experiences or has an idea for a solution.

In short: I've already checked notifications and app rights to access data (if android let me select because it tells the app has all rights granted).

Details:
1) on Android 15 the RED control app can not open images on the device. Instead of showing the Pop-Up overlay in app it tells me there where not rights granted to access images.
2) an Android 10 the RED control app can open images but does not load / show them.
Is this all about a bug in android or does this result due to incompatibilities with the app itself?

Thanks in advance
Dominic

Thanks Dominic for the report and please let me know on which device model / version on Android you got it working and on which devices it fails.

No guarantee it is fixable as Google sometimes restrict releasing new apps for older version of their OS / SDK but I will certainly have a look into this.

you can also email or dm me if you want.

Hi Mikael, thank you for responding that fast.
Again thanks for offering pm / dm - but may it helps other if they have similar issues.
  • The one the image loading and overlay is working flawless is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 8T on which Android 11 is running
  • Half working (can browse / access images but not loading) - this is a Lenovo Tab M10 FHD Plus running Android 10
  • Neither opening the image-browser nor loading - this is a Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 running Android 15 in combination with Xiaomi Hyper OS
All together are NOT the latest and fastest devices but the app runs on all of them - sometimes minor slow but all together acceptable.

Don't mind if this can not be resolved. But if it could, it would be really great, especially if the Lenovo Tablet will be able to browse, load and overlay because it hast a 10" screen what would help for continuity and vfx-shots.

If you have any recommendation in addition please let me know. May this will help others as well.

Again thank you for the effort taken.

Kind Regards
Dominic
