Director James Gunn and The Mighty Mighty Henry Braham, BSC discuss the visual inspiration for the movie and how the WEAPON 8K VV was the perfect camera to capture the immersive experience they desired.

I saw the film this morning. The film was really good. The images though?! Wow! They looked incredible. Can't wait to watch it again in 4k/HDR. When I saw the "shot on red" plastered on the end credits it gave me tingles. Kudos to everyone involved.

Something tells me that we are going to see a VV Helium sensor camera soon.

With a larger 65 mm sensor, Graeme's smart IPP(x) coding and next gen electronics, RED can dethrone "ANY" production camera for a while.

Just add a few hardware "inventions" learned from the Panavision partnership like the EVF, almost silent cooling fans, wireless pro-audio integration, wireless 4k or higher video return and higher frame rates like 60 thru 240 full frame capture if possible. Knowing RED, I won't be surprised if Jarred decide to make it even a generation or two ahead of anyone else out there by releasing this new camera with a hi-resolution sensor 10 if not 12k!

Also, they'll probably make it affordable to mere mortals like us with a decent price package.

I know that it is easier said than done. Maybe I'm dreaming or getting ahead a bit. But genius folks with a visionary CEO at the helm of RED, had done these kinds of things more than once before.

+1 on forthcoming additional flavor(s) of large sensor. But on topic of 8K, after seeing the film, the resolution really punched thru. It really is a big deal how RED is un-marginalizing (again) themselves in the camera space. And of course Graeme is part of the secret sausce that really makes the whole RED value proposition jump of the page.
