  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hey guys, tried two EPICS, and 2 sets of cables.. Problem seems
to be the REDPLATE is not giving the EPIC the battery info.. We plugged in a block battery bypassing the REDPLATE, into a power cable then into the EPIC cable, and no problems at all, voltage comes up fine.. Any ideas?

Ive not been able to get voltage data through to my Epic for the majority of the time i've owned it. It came through for one power up once a few days ago, but after changing battery is went again. Tried two different battery plates and 5 batteries.

I thought for me it might be the adapter cable.

Hey guys, I was just told by RED that the RED BRICKS won't show voltage at this point because that feature has not been enabled yet on EPIC.. All cool as long as they eventually enable it! Hahaha.. Kinda confused that the switronixs and other after market batts work though? Im sure RED has a great reason for not enableing it........ Cue RED TEAM RESPONSE....

Hmm interesting, I do have voltage on my EPIC!!??
Witch battery plate are you using? The one from the
backpack seems to have a problem with the wiring.

The EPIC manual seems to describe the plug and not the socket.

Voltage from the bricks works fine on the RED Quickplate I just bought recently. It also worked just fine on another one I have. That other one quit working when I swapped out the heavy steel back plate for an aluminum ET back plate with v-dock connector. The ET plate has a different magnet, so you have to pull the magnet out of the RED plate to make it fit. It does not show voltage on the EPIC after performing the back plate change. However, it still reports all battery info on a RED One... Obviously the EPIC AC adapter provides voltage info on the EPIC too.

Mine doesn't show for red bricks on red battery plates either. It does say DC IN when connected to power source though.

Tried using IDX Battery, it shown the voltage...Is there any relationship between Wh and voltage information ? Red Brick is 140 Wh, IDX is 93 Wh.

Type of IDX's battery is E-10s..

Surely it is the camera that tests the voltage and not the batteries that tell the camera what voltage is coming in?

Hi Jeff, just to confirm, you do not get voltage readings on the EPIC with the RED Bricks, correct?

Hi Michael,

I am using the RED quick plate, with RED bricks.. What batteries are you using?

I have voltage readings on all our Red batteries and IDX batteries on a variety of plates including Red and IDX.

My guess is your plate has an issue. Have you tried a different plate?

Try downgrading EPIC firmware to 1.6.20 and
then upgrade to 1.6.24 again. I bet that will help!

I am using Swit and RED bricks (mainly the swit because they are Aircraft save)

I do get voltage readings from the RED Bricks. But not on my plate modified with the ET rear piece and v-dock. That modded plate reports everything fine when connected to a RED One, and it reported voltage just fine before I swapped out the magnet and rear piece, so I'm not sure what's up. Probably a magnet issue.

Like Greg said, you probably have an issue with your battery plate. Do you have others to test with?

going to try a few things.. been so busy today haven't even turned it on! hahaha

I get the voltage readout on my Red Battery Plate that has been modified with the ET aluminum plate. I always thought it funny that whenever I get a Red Battery Plate from Red there are no screws holding the steel plate on. It is as if they already know the first thing I'm going to do is remove it and put on the ET plate. : )

Anyone know if this issue has a fix? I'm still having the problem with the RED plate showing voltage on my EPIC..
