  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RED bricks not showing voltage on EPIC?

While we are on the subject this just in from the stupid question dept. What is the voltage at which the epic shuts down?

Thanks, p

At 12v it does. The jump from 13v-12v goes quite quickly (at least for me it does) so around 13v i like to change out if i can - thats if there isnt a Redvolt in the sidehandle.

Updated to firmware 1.7.9a and lo and behold! Brick percentage shows up on the display! Looks like the problem's fixed, at least on this camera.

Thanks for all the hard work Red Team!

Cheers from Tokyo,

Not even just voltage, an actual % comes up! Have you tried non-red batteries to see if they show voltage?

I used a IDX battery plate when we flew EPIC on a Steadicam and we could read the DC volts from the IDX battery plate, but not the RED battery plate. I'm updating the camera today and will see if it reads Volts or %

I upgraded to the beta firmware and suddenly the camera would not start up with either a RED Brick or a third party battery-but AC power was okay. I went to the release firmware (.44) and it worked just fine. Using an ET/IDX battery plate with an IDX power cable.

Updated to firmware 1.7.9a, now I am also reading % on RED Bricks;-D

Tested EPIC Build 1 v1.6.44, not reading % on RED Bricks.

Will run with 1.7.9a for more testing.

Did you let RED know? Is your camera an M or an X?
