I think this might be a good alternative for those of us who can't afford a Bomb EVF. Also way better than attaching a Z-Finder to the 2.8'' screen.

I'm not in any way affiliated with Redrock btw. Just saying.

...

Well we have yet to see if, and how, this might be compatible with a Red. I would guess this connects to an HDSLR via HDMI, so that might work with a Red also.

However I would just like to add, this might actually not be nearly as good as a good Finder (Z or other) attached to a LCD. I have had the chance to try one of ActionProduct's beta Viewfinders for the Red 5'6 LCD, and it was nearly more comfortable/ better than using the EVF. I don't know if I'm allowed to say this, but after having initially decided to manufacture it, they are presently examining the possibilities of making a small run of them, I'm definitely in line for one. I highly recommend it. I also think they are, and if they aren't they should, consider making one for the new 2.8 inch LCDs.

Cheers,
Damien

Nice to see a fellow Swiss here, Damien!

I connects via HDMI.
You might be right, I still like the thought of an affordable compact EVF that I can put anywhere.

Sounds interresting! They clame to have greater resolution than the RED BOMB EVF...

According to their technical specifications RedRocks product has "1.2m total dots".That probably means it has ~400000 RGB triplets. In comparison the RED Bomb EVF has a resolution of 1280x784=1003520 pixels (RGB).
In other words: the microEVF may have a greater nominal pixel count, but the Bomb EVF has no RGB mosaic and therefore will have higher image quality and resolution.

Resolution is not everything... I tip my hat for Redrock - they are doing some amazing stuff, but at that price - something's gotta give.

Also HMDI connectors are not very secure and rugged compared to the LEMOs. But a great option for dSLRS.

You can get HDMI cables with locking tabs now. Much more secure and fit any standard sized HDMI port. I don't know if they have them for mini-HDMI, but they probably do.

Didn't know that! I've generally found them a little delicate, compared say with a LEMO or BNC connector.

Well that is definitely true, especially for the cheap ones.
For robust and small there is nothing like a properly terminated LEMO as far as I am concerned.

The HDMI is definitely not a "pro" connector. Pro connectors lock into place and cannot be pulled out by pulling the cable. Using anything else suggests amateur or at best "prosumer" in my world.

True, but I think that's what the Redrock is directed at, the prosumer market. If I had $3200 to spend, I'd go for the Bomb EVF, because that's obviously the pro choice.
