Michael,
Interesting story. If you are a business person who houses their gear at a place of business apart from your residence then there is a little less to worry about. A business insurance policy is easier to get and collect on than a rider for business equipment in your home. There is less risk to your family. Just to be clear though, the home invasion point was just one illustration of possible risk. It isn't the only negative.
The last initial whether it is acceptable or not, is a small but effective insulator from the search engines. A query for Michael Brennan will not turn up results for Michael B.
I wouldn't ask Red for an anon forum, but when I become an owner I would certainly be interested in a private forum just for owners and select guests. That could easily be an invite only kind of arrangement that would require far fewer man hours to maintain and moderate than it is to screen all manner of online applicants.
I didn't throw my hat into this ring in hopes that prolonging the debate would change anything. I understand that the time for debate is over. I just wanted to make the opinion known, and voice some disappointment because is isn't a choice that I am relishing.

The first name last letter idea is a twilight zone of anonymity in any event.
Why not full surname as well?
Is a separate anon forum a good idea?
