  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Real names...

Done and Done. Jason is driving back to the Ranch in Colorado from LA so hes out of commission for a couple days, ill try and cover him when he's gone.
 
I'm curious about the 'real name' policy allowing people to use initials. A situation came up recently where I tried to identify a poster and it was impossible due to the last name being just an initial, effectively nullifying a "real name" idea.
 
Shawn, I think it is a wise privacy policy. You can have both scopes. Real name and privacy. Even why there are a lot of us who want it.

Also 'cause in some countries or cultures, a person has several names, not only two or three names. Myself, for instance, my full name is composed of six different names (seven words actually). The use of any one of these six names, it is just a matter of choice. With the current policy, I can use the initial of the name I use in this business -- @ cinematography.com, for reasons of privacy, I preferred to place the part of my name which I don't use actually. Thus, reduser.net policy is much more accurate.

I like the new sig Shawn and I agree with you about the people just using the first letter of their last name. Or people with just their first name on here. If you have all these extra names that go after your first name just use the name you would take a credit on because if you got six words in your last name the producer is just going to laugh at you and say your limited to two, maybe three for a middle name. Just incase there are a lot of John Smiths on the crew.

So if Angelina Jolie posted on here, they wouldn't accept Angelina Jolie as her real name? because I don't believe that is her REAL name. some people like to keep their "stage names" as their "real names" so stalkers don't come and stalk them, or worst. So... I, for one, am perfectly okay with people using a first initial as their last name. Why would you need to "identify" a poster? Maybe the option should be REAL NAMES required to only be viewable by administrators or something.

Furthermore, whats to stop someone from just using "John Doe" as their "REAL NAME"?

Angelina Jolie doesn't use this forum ( i don't think) but if she did
she could call herself what ever she wants:001_wub:
mate we're not asking 4 a birth certificate we're just looking for a bit of honesty & continuity, please .

Please try and keep this thread specifically for name changes otherwise i may delete your post... waisting everybody's time :)
