  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

RCX PRO Build 11 Beta and Epic/ Scarlet Camera build 3.0 (release)

Just ran a few old clips through the new washer with the new soap and the colors are brighter and whiter than ever and those nasty gray skin tones are a thing of the past.... What soap do you use??? RCX pro of course....
Thank you RED... Just in time for my off to the next round of Survivor to test it out in the real world...Cant wait to get the toys to the playground to use and show all the kids what they really want to ask for christmas.

Yeahooooooo!

my only disappointment (nothing to do with Red) is how do we edit Red Color 3 in premier if it doesn't support it?? :(
Have to export/transcode every clip out of RCX now?? I'm used to editing directly in premier and using "source settings" to control the RMD right from inside Premier :(

Looking Good! Currently doing a black shading and Ill shoot some skin in lowlight.

Trying to upgrade my REDmote... I am having trouble with the REDMOTE software wizard not connecting to the MOTE my MBP. It shows up in network settings as connected but the REDMOTE software wizard consistently fails to connect. I am running Lion on a MBP 5,1.

Have you tried disabling your wireless before using the wizard?

Lonzo: QuickTime *WRAPPED* R3D. FCP only understands QuickTime, nothing we can do about that. The tools work the same as they always have, just updated to support the latest (where possible).

Ian: your firewall could be getting in the way, or try a reboot?

FCP 7 is just as it always was, slow as molasses with native files. But you can transcode and you can use native footage in Color. Nothing changed but being able to work with the new cameras – which alone is big! FCP 7 revived.

Well done, RED!

Overall this seems to be a very solid upgrade.
Amazing how far this tech is going.

Even beyond this nice new Color Science there are some very useful additions to Red Cine Pro.
Plus the updated Final Cut Studio plugin was a very nice surprise.

Granted I would have liked a camera build for the RED ONE in this initial release but whatever.
Just please don't forget it in the long run.

Thanks for the hard work.

I'm a noob so please excuse me if this is a stupid question but does that mean with the .R3D being inside a quicktime wrapper does that technically mean its not a RAW file anymore.

I think what i'm asking is when using the .R3D in FCP and then applying say some color correction/effects within FCP, are these being applied to a RAW file with the key benefits of RAW or simply a Quicktime entity like ProRes?

The ONLY Apple application that natively supports R3D is Apple Color.

FCP will only read QuickTime. That means you either transcode (in our REDCINE-X PRO application or the Log & Transfer plugin) or use our REDCODE QuickTime codec. This codec can be used in 2 ways: 1) with the QuickTime reference files (which the RED ONE generates or you can generate inside REDCINE-X PRO) which point to the R3D, or 2) you can wrap the R3D inside a QuickTime file (through our Log & Transfer plugin). I would not recommend #2 as it creates an extra layer of confusion. So either use the QuickTime reference files or transcode to ProRes

Thank you for the quick reply Rob. You have knocked me out of the extra layer of confusion i was wrapped up in, the Quicktime reference file route is the way i went earlier and will continue to do so. Thanks
