  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Raven Queue Put Together

Just cancelled my Raven order, you can take me off the list...FYI: ordered 29th jan 2016.

Visar, I like your spirit. My booking is more than one year old now and I am willing to wait more. I have picked up a Canon 5D Mark IV and one A7sII to go ahead with my usual 4K requirement. I'll manage with them till the Raven arrives, if at all.
 
My rep told me today that even though my order was only 4 months ago my spot in the queue still looks like its targeted for spring. Hopefully that's true which also hopefully means some of the earlier orders will be rolling out more in the next few months.

Just wondering what is the highest reported serial number? I know they don't deliver in exact sequence but it intrigues me to know how many are out in the wild.

Yeah, it is, sadly. And I don't expect it to pick up anymore. I'll be waiting until my GH5 arrives. If it doesn't seriously pick up until then, I will cancel my order as well. Patience is a virtue, and I've been trying my best to be virtuous, but it only goes so far.

I think alot of people are actually receiving their RAVENs but rather not put their names in the list or announce it for whatever reason. I will advice not to cancel, reason being that you are not saving much if you do, 'cause in reality the only thing tied down right now is your deposit. You can go ahead and get a GH5 and when your allocation does come up, you can sell the GH5. Waiting for the Raven is worth it. You won't regret it, especially stacking it up against other RED cameras like WEAPON MG or EPIC-Dragon. I am not saying its the best camera in the world but if you are in the RED ecosystem, RAVEN is the best camera IMHO (Price/Performance).

Just noticed that the RAVEN to S-W switch that was re-opened few weeks back has been closed, which could mean that RAVEN queue is catching up

Couple of months ago I never thought this kind of problem existed with RED, I thought I could just go to any camera store and pick a Raven or a Scarlet-W and go home..
What a wonderful life :D

One way of looking at it is that, isn't it good the are so many orders - it is such a good camera that too many people want it!
I don't mind waiting but do feel by now Red should be able to give people a rough ball park estimate as to how long.
I know some people will say that production of the sensors are un predictable but I would argue that it would not be as unpredictable as the weather!
There are experts who can predict the weather. I am sure that there would be a production engineer who could loosely predict the availability of your camera.
I find having no rough estimate as to how long annoying - I have already been waiting over a year - so I am patient, but a rough estimate would allow me to plan to hire? purchase an intermediate 4K camera?
Anyone at Red reading this thread, I am sure we would all appreciate an answer?
 
I think RED's market share didn't expand as much as they thought it would with Raven so the difference in increased low end RED camera sales versus the projected loss of higher end units as a result likely isn't financially viable given there's still a limited market. Bottom line is that I'm pretty sure RED wants to kill the Raven. They've already stopped all new orders and if what so many of us suspect is true, it's only a matter of time until there's some sort of "new" Raven Dragon sensors shortage that ends production. After all, Raven uses a specific cut for only that model as the S-W uses the same 6k sensor as the weapon - it's cropped, not cut like the Raven. That being said I have both a Raven and a S-W and if I were you I would just get the S-W anyway. It's still an AMAZING camera for the money.
 
I just canceled my Order for the RAVEN. You can take me off the list.

I wish all of you that are still waiting that you receive your's soon and have a lot of fun with it.

Ok guys, you can also take me off the list. I just switched to Scarlet-W. Good luck the guys waiting in line! Hope you get your camera soon!
