  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Raven Queue Put Together

IMHO on this subject as I am awaiting my Raven allocation, is that everyone's attention at RED has been focused on the introduction and allocation of the newly introduced 8K cameras. With only a finite amount of resources at their disposal, RED has taken it's eye off the Raven ball and put it squarely on the 8K to get everything allocated, financed and delivered. We (folks awaiting a Raven AND Scarlet-W) keep hearing that the introduction of the new Helium sensor cameras is going to free up resources and allocation spots for the Dragon sensor folks, but that has yet to be seen and realized as all of RED's focus has been on the upgrade paths and new camera introductions. So, unfortunately, it's still a waiting game for the Raven and Scarlet-W folks until the air clears with the 8K orders and allocations. Now that being said, Jarred has pretty much explained that in his "Thank you" posting and has urged us (Raven and Scarlet-W folks) to continue to be patient. For me and our company, that's the only option as we cannot afford or have no desire at this point to upgrade to the 8K Epic-W, which by the way, is a SWEET deal.

There, now that I have gotten this off my chest please understand that we at GKess Films are squarely in the RED camp for the long run (as soon as we get our Raven ;-)) and are already looking forward to the day when we can get our second RED camera and our third, etc. It sucks waiting for this camera, but know that it will be worth it in the long run! At least with all that we have been through waiting for our cameras, RED has been openly communicating through the various Social Media and User Forums as no other company that I have ever dealt with before. So until our Raven is allocated, it's business as usual with our DSLRs. When we do receive our Raven, there will be little time to celebrate and surely no "unboxing" videos cause we will be putting that bad boy to work immediately!
 
You will enjoy it! I have been using the REDWIDEGAMUT lately and its like having a new camera. The bad boys are worth the wait
 
For us people in South America, we don't have to many options to buy a RED camera only by going to the US or with a reseller which is much more expensive. I will go to the US next december/january, if my camera is not ready (december 2 is going to be one year of waiting), will means to buy another airplane ticket to go to US. Sucks big time. Please RED people, I know theres alot going on in these days in your company, but do not forget the Raven people, that doesn't have extra money to buy an Epic W.

What to do if you've been allocated almost month ago, pay the full amount day after and still waitng for the camera?

And only what you get from your rep is:

"... We are receiving an intense amount of orders so we haven’t got full details on shipping estimates just yet.
As soon as I have more details I will contact you immediately.

Kind Regards."

True! But they have to ship it to UK RED and than to you back home and now they have trucks full of Heliums being shipped to dealers! I'm thinking out loud here! I'm in the same boat and we're not the only ones! :( They should have at least waited to ask us the full amount of money!

Should be 2-3 business days once you are allocated and paid in full. But, meaning we blasted people does not mean every can take delivery right away. Some have to sort finances. Once they are settled, then they can get back in queue. So, there are going to be peaks and valleys in processing time. Just the way it is... By having this forum, it exposes those peaks and valleys that would normally never be seen with a "normal" company - and ignorance would be bliss.

Taking that and the current launch of Weapon Helium / Epic-W (plus shipment from the US to somewhere in Europe) into the equation it might explain the prolonged delivery time.

Thanks for that Aaron!!

Guys I gotta vent. Right now I'm going through one of those really really bad months hehe. My 7D just died on me after 8 years of really hard work (traveled with her all over the globe), my 5D was just stolen 2 weeks in a show I was shooting and now I had an accident with my Phantom 4 so I need to send it to repair....is just one of those times so obviously now I gotta rent or borrow any piece of gear I need to use. So seeing that list is a bit bittersweet cuz I'm #105 and we're still around order #85 (of our list). My allocation couldn't come fast enough... sorry about all this, just needed to get it out
 
Yep I can confirm I haven't heard anything. It does look like a lot of Scarlet-W's are flying out though so I wonder if they are doing a SW month to catch SW orders up. I'm super eager and excited to start shooting RED as whenever it arrives I will start work as a full-time freelancer again. The wait is hard but it just will make it even sweeter when it finally comes :-)

Truth be told, none of that is a reason for delay. Our tiny production house has shipped up to 4,000 units of product a day globally and never has shipping quantity or location been an issue. Does RED even intend on filling Raven orders anymore? I already paid for $7k of RED accessories that have been sitting on the shelf for the last 6 months collecting dust... :crying:

RED is Andy, EPIC-W/HELIUM 8K is Buzz Lightyear, and we're Woody.
