  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

the droknob is cool but i cant see it holding up in a rigorous production scenario. id still buy it.
i wish there was a simple but familiar type wheel to use along fool control.
jarred said that red made a wifi controller, then phil posted a picture of one from over 2 years ago, but when asked where is it, there is no answer, so it looks like that that project got scratched for some reason. it looked perfect!
 
Sorry if this question has been answered somewhere already, but do you need the Hollywood Hotlink to use FoolControl with the DSMC2 bodies, or does it connect directly to the cameras?

HotLink, REDLink, COLR... are needed only on wifi-less DSMC cameras (EPIC / SCARLET)

DSMC2 (WEAPON, SCARLET-W, RAVEN) all have built in wifi.
Wooden camera has a new external antenna side plate to extend the wifi signal range.

Hi everybody.
I'm new to Foolcontrol, never used it.

First question: Is there a resource where I can look for myself, how to use this app with a RED?
Second question: Is it possible to connect and use Foolcontrol with, say, a Raven without a Sidekick or Touch monitor?

Reason I ask is because I'm fairly certain my head will explode if my Raven body arrives before my Sidekick or Pro Touch and I have to wait. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining. It's just that emotions get ramped up when kit is 'this close'. I'm trying to plan ahead to make sure I can hit the ground running as soon as I unbox the Raven.

By defaut wifi is disabled on camera but if you send me a private message with your email address I can send you a force-preset to enable ad hoc network and connect foolcontrol even if received you do not have your touch monitor or sidekick yet...

Hey guys,

is the Raven Foolcontrol app working with Raven bought from Red or are early adopters not concerned buy this version and have to pay the foolcontrol normal app?

Tried it and couldn't see my Raven in the list of devices...

Hello Maxence

the foolcontrol for RAVEN Camera Kit app is ONLY working with cameras sold at Apple as a kit with the foolcolor engraved flight case and other 3rd party accessories.
Any other camera will need to use the regular version of the app.
 
I know. It's awesome. Used it on a shoot last week and the only bad thing about the app is that the other people on set (client etc) could think you are checking your phone during the shoot;-)

Each camera sold in the 'retail kit' package comesg with extra accesories like lens, batteries, FCP-X etc...
You don't get foolcontrol free with previous RAVEN purchases the same way you won't get FCP-X or that Sigma lens for free...
