  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Hello Jim,

For those of us who believe in UNIBOBY system like RED ONE to minimise points of failure, transportation and assembly,I wonder if you will be able to upgrade a RED ONE body with a MYSTERIUM MONSTRO sensor.
Thank you for being THE REAL MAD MAN.

Long Exposures

Long Exposures

I've been waiting for this since the R1. Hoping that I wouldn't need to purchase a separate DSLR just so I could shoot some fancy time lapse.

Likewise.

I have had to buy an intervalometer for my Canon, so that I can do it for now.

It would be great if the Epic is out in time, so that I can use it for a project in April 2010.

BTW, when Jarred says it will do "long exposures", is he talking about 1 or 2 seconds? Or 20-30 seconds?

Abobe CS4 + Epic

Abobe CS4 + Epic

Will sample files and file specs for Epic be provided to Adobe in enough time so that we will be able to edit Epic footage straight away in CS4?

Or will we have to wait several months before we can edit footage?

I think this was the original question. However I am pretty sure that it is impossible to fit a monstro sensor in a red one just because right now monstro is FF35 and will probably be too big for the red one. But who knows eventually there might be a monstro S35 sensor.

We are putting together some RED ONE Mysterium-X cameras for upgrade testing and a couple of high profile directors have run them through their paces. The 1st AC had a big smile on his face after seeing the results and gave this quote.

"To me, the new sensor is the biggest leap I've seen RED achieve. We rated the sensor at ISO 500 and did not see any noise in the blacks in low level lighting situations. The image is super clean." Steve Meizler

1st Assistant Camera on Saving Private Ryan, Artificial Intelligence: AI, Ocean's Twelve, War of the Worlds, Ché, The Informant, Social Network, among several others. Steve has been 1st AC on four feature films (and a few commercials) shot on RED...

I expect that we will have more quotes as the cameras get into the hands of a few more pros.

Jim

Great stuff Jim!

What's the upgrade cost and can I take it for a test drive 1st?

Dave

Thanks to Stephen Gentle and Salomon Schchman for redirecting my question properly to the Fire Chief.
This is what i believe Jim said when RED one was announced, meaning that any RED ONE owner will just need to upgrade sensor and electronics over time before for some reason
the concept of modularity came along with Epic and Scarlet.

Thanks

It's from a test shoot last Monday my production partner and I did on our new Build 20. We were striking the set when I looked up and saw the model checking her blackberry, couldn't resist grabbing it as a pick-up. You can check out the footage here.
