  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quine & QuineCore @ around the globe

More pre-NAB Buzz...

ProductionAssetManagement sounds a bit... boring...

Is QuineCore just another dailies System?

Eh... no, not really.

Sometimes it's fun to givesneakpeaks into where we are taking this.

AI is cool.... when stuff like this just "works".

Having finally brought all our tools to one platform Core, it is about time to reap the benefits.

Proud of this rig.

3 months shooting with 2x #ARRI mini, #videomonitoring with #metadata through #CVW800pro updated with Quine firmware, DAILIES and editorials directly to #quinecore through #quinebox_iot , #QuineIngest for ingest, transcode, upload and management of «the rest of the files and metadata», #dailies, file-sharing and sync with #editors through #quinecore

Busy times...

here's an overview of the Premiere integration

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFKuZZxRQi8

I'll come back with some more elaborate "caesura studies".

from August we will be offering this all over the world for Premiere and VID through interplay.

We shot this piece in China in April with some interesting partners.

The workflow was built on the Quine tools, and I will do a writeup on it to show what we did. But here is the result :)

Working on a one-sentence description.... :

QuineCore is a Production Asset Management System that allows production houses to streamline and robustify shared workflows.

Ah... Finally!!!!

Getting ready for a worlds first.

5G TV-production outside an "industrial park" or testbed.

Working closely with one of the largest Telecoms in Norway and one of the biggest events of this type in Norway, Quine will deliver the infrastructure for Quick-Turnaround editing and publishing with QuineBoxIoT, QuineCore, QuineIngest and direct integration from camera to Premiere.

We'll be shooting 10-bit LOG on the cameras, and deliver edited films at the end of each day.

The partnerships are still a secret, but I am about to burst my bubble after the last few days of tests.

The 5G modems are still a bit lumpy, and need to go into a custom backpack and they suck power like the beasts they are. 2X V-mount batteries power each rig.

It's really an early application, but it will be live and in an environment of 10's of thousands people being active on SoMe and the 5G installation is a commercially available one. Not a closed "Park".

Cameras are RED and Sony F55.

In about a week, you'll start to see live imagery from this project.

It's crazy exciting! We're essentially replacing an OB bus with a backpack and our system

This complete system, is one of two major products Quine release this fall. Both are "world first" and the most efficient and robust workflows available anywhere.

Good times!

Hey Brother

Just wanted to share our congratulations with you out loud. FANTASTIC work you're doing. BRILLIANT.

Good luck with this hi-pressure hi-risk job; we're cheering for you!!!

Thanks Paul.

The entire production went without incidents.

Here is Telia's (the Telecom's) press release (Google translate).

And now we can finally say publicly that we're partners with them in developing media-market 5G products, and that Microsoft is our devpartner.

NDA's finally out of the window :)

I am working on a write-up... BUT we are going head-on into one of the biggest productions in Norway tomorrow (24 episodes 2,5 year shooting thing) which will not use the boxes, but all our software tools.

Prep... :)

That said, we're getting ready to take in testers of the software/cloud system from September "sometimes".

And I will start collecting a list of interested users.

This side of Christmas, Premiere will be the "production ready" integration, though AVID. is not too far behind (through interplay).

I will make a separate list for that.

Ingest from anywhere: Of course
Metadata... Yup we do those....
Clients: Sure
Investment round: Yup
Without disclosing too much, we have had worse years...

Just taking a minute to present the guys who make Quine Quine.

When we started up, we said that we thought we should hire people from around the globe to have different mindsets and educational and experience-backgrounds attacking the problems we are working on. When doing stuff no-one else have managed, it's maybe smart and be too cocky and think that all the smartest guys come from your own neighbourhood and background.

Let's see how we have done.... :)

Stian - PhD Informatics - Croatia

Meets and talks and connects te dots between developers, customers, partners and funders.

There are a few more, most notably Lars (Hardware engineer Norway), May (Business development China - China), Leo - (Business development and financial advisor - UK) and Carlos (Hardware-design wizard - US) covering other critical parts of our development as a company - but too far from office to make this shoot, but it was great to get this gang together for a Saturday morning photo-session.

Things are happening in the Quine sphere these days.
And that is all due to this fantastic and crazy committed gang of people.

Thanks Blair.

After a long and thorny integration with Active Directory, giving the security and privacy that... the users organisation dictates, we are finally ready to start scaling.

In that process we are looking for investors.

We have one in, and we are in daily meetings with VC's these days.

But if anyone wants to join this ride, now is a good time. :)

It's a bit busy these days.

But the big RED news is that finally RED support is in QI2, and it is freaking fast.
Metadata from ARRI and RED will shortly be exposed in a camera report in Core.

But for anyone enjoying these things, here is a current workflow chart for a "remote" production.
Can't wait to offer this in scale.
(and: Yes... Someone IS working on a design-manual for us...)

So we will slowly start to roll out system solutions from medio January 2020.

We will enroll select clients in this, but if you are interested to come into that program over the spring 2020, please send a note on
gunleik@quine.no

Currently the integration is with Premiere, but it's file-and filestructure sharing capacity is at a go level, we have RED support in the ingester, and the project-navigation and downloads based on queries are all in place.

You should be able to interact with post- and editors anywhere in the world, while shooting anywhere in the world.

I will probably make a separate announcement on this, but this is a day of great pride!

In the rollup to our jan 10th system-release, this is pretty fun:
#frameio showing off the potential of getting files directly from camera to the cloud with QuineBoxIoT

Through #QuineCore the files and metadata is additionally automatically synchronized with the editor and other stakeholders.

This #NAB2019 video is a bit of a blast from the past, but quickly shows the immediate benefit of #QuineBoxIoT for suitable productions.

WHile prepping for system-release jan 10th....

Here is the Festival video with English subtitles.

QuineBoxIoT, QuineCore and Quine Ingest serving the fastest edited workflows on the planet.
