  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quine & QuineCore @ around the globe

I'll be holding a keynote at http://llb.no March 6th...

In case any of you are in Oslo around then :)

Cat is out of the bag.

We are building a cloud/hybrid-based Production Asset Management system.

Of course we have spent a fair bit of time researching what that means in a post 5G post AI world. We know you need to browse and work with your files "everywhere" and collaborate with "everyone".
Simple sentences, but with wide implications.

Is it all:
Apply a few AI API's and synchronisation endpoints pray that this will suffice works?

There is well research documentation that such solutions probably won't cut it. Not least because this has been available to test for a while.

We are curious about what input we can have on this.

What would you like to see?

We want to find good candidates for invite-only beta-users from July.

Please send mails to gunleik@quine.no if interested.

We'll be at NAB, and I use this opportunity to make a gentle reminder that we will be having a keynote at LLB.

The strength of the QuineCore is that it is not an "App", but a media management system on which we build flexible end-user applications.

QuineBox is one, QuineIngest is another (New version coming for NAB). Browser. Logger, Conformer and Analyzer are all in the pipe as are some cool editor-platform integrations.

WIth this approach, we can quickly set-up a POC for other media-based tasks and workflows, like we did the other day for large-scale auditions.

Videos go directly into a structured central and can be annotated, shared and judged between stakeholders at all stages.

If we were to offer products for no latency wireless on-set monitoring (which we can), what would be your wishes?

We have some large clients and some unique features.

But I'd like to know what you'd like to see.

We set up the first unattended demo for the combo of QuineCore and QuineBox IoT at foto.no today.

I hope installations like this will pop up in a shop "close to you" soon.

It's a pity that they don't yet have the RED dealership in the basket. They are quickly becoming Norways largest reseller to the pro-market. Having to set this up with a Sony FS5 is a pity :)

But it works.

We also plan a campaign together on the CVW wireless video-sets, which we will also offer to redusers.

It's sweet that you can mix and match sets easily between models with TC and rec start/stop.

For ARRI and RED we can also offer filenames to the QuineBox.

As a sidenote, I totally LOVE our developers.

This guy has 2 PhD's in informatics. One on networks and cloud computing, a second in image analysis and Neural Nets. As a slight background, this guy has been writing admin code for update of nuclear power plants and weapons systems before joining Quine.

And this is what he types to me:

Shit. Some days are fun.

When people see what the QuineCore, QUineBox and CVW-Quine products can be used for for f. ex...

Sports and concerts.

Happy day.

Happiness comes in small packages.

The very first QuineCore to AvidMediaComposer image

It's still 4 months until this feature should be "done", so a bit of manual here's and there's are still very much in play, but it looks like it can be done. With metadata and the works.
Happy weekend everybody

And some fun stuff is about to happen around the boxes...

I think it is important to understand the strengths and weaknesses of AI, when starting to implement it.

Even though Quine has engaged a dual PhD in networks, cloud-computing and Machine Learning, AI is no magic bullet for anything.

The results from iQiyi's application of speech to text on Chinese Idol, are very revealing.

AI can be a tremendous tool of assistance.
And a tremendous mess, once you start to build new assumptions on AI based assumptions.

Still:
No wonder the Watson medical project was shut down...
AI is not about precision, but assumptions.

Baby steps....

Sony FS7 Mkii original to QuineCore, and sync-back AVID DnX MXF audio video to MediaComposer.

Next: (ah... let's do "next" when next works...)

This... is QuineIngest v2 working on a small stresstest, firing off on all 24 cores.

OSX/Win

Local, networked and API based destinations (Imagination sets the limit)
Unlimited ingest-points per project
Transcode, burn-in, deliver grid
Metadata extraction
QuineCore based
Release? Sure!

We'll show this with some interesting partners at NAB.

Meanwhile in China

QuineBox IoT + CVW Pro 800 (Q) doing automated recording and delivery of edit-proxies, dailies and simple logging at China's 3rd largest rental...

Not the best mounting I've seen, but this reflects the convenience of being able to take the box off the camera when combined with our special edition of the CVW 800 Pro (Q)

So far RED and ARRI are supported. Just got confirmation that a big S will join the party.

Feels incredibly cool after close to 2,5 years to be able to send this workflow-suggestion to a TV-producer for a production starting in August.

It's coming together....

This production will be shot on RED Gemini

I'll be holding a Keynote at llb.no Wednesday 15.30 Oslo time.

There will be a live-stream and I will update with the link to the live-stream

Are you planning to support just current standard frame rates like 23.98, 24, 25, 29.97, 30, 59.94, 60? What about newer timecode standards like TLX?

Cheers - #19

Hi Blair, we are very open to customer requests the we plan our next development stages.

Like here:

You can now browse QuineCore on mobile devices:

I'll have my CTO look into it at once

We'll be or 1 or 4 booths at NAB.

Depending on the next few days.

If you have any questions as to our choices, please ask.

Around NAB we want to find 3 partners in US.

We have more than 3 picks as of now, but if your company is a better choice, please message me here or off list.

It is more or less exactly 2 years between the first and the two last of these shots.
1st is coding-wizard and Quine CTO Stian doing some of the very first tests in terminal on what was to become QuineBox™IoT (it is there on the table to the right)
At the time it weighed about 2 KG and ran Linux on a 4-core i7. It was not really possible to configure the unit for anyone but him. The enclosure was 3D printed and had to go off... a lot. But still this frankenbox gave us the results telling us that this could probably work out to something amazing.
The two next pictures:
A couple of assistants who haven't touched the system until today, set up a two-camera #TV series (with two boxes on #Alexa mini wirelessly connected through #CVW 800PRO wireless sets), checks immediate #dailies and adjust #logging in #QuineCore while #QuineIngest #syncs media-originals to the #project.
On the same day, redying a third unit for an #audition on Friday.
Learning curve has gone from a #phD to just basically using the system.
Usability has gone from Proof Of Concept (with a PhD) towards user-friendliness .
We'll show a lot of cool things towards #NAB and after, but I think these three pictures more than most express the crazy two years we have gone through. #PAM #quinecore
