  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Quickplate V-Lock Battery module ready to ship

Sorry guys.. had to do a small tweak on the switching of the Aux outputs.. should be back up soon.

And it is back up on Store ready to be ordered for those that wonder about it...

And mine is on the Fedex Truck... ;)

This will make a nice addition, and besides the fact of providing extra power sources, it will look very cvill on camera, when not in use, while just using power off the Redvolts from the DSMMC side Handle, which besides already have the cool fact that there is one LESS cable to deal with, I just love the fact that I do not have to deal with the extruding element of the standard V-Battery plates when not in use, and now I do not need to always remove it, it can stay on camera in most situations... Unless alternatively replaced by the Redvolt XL Module.

Arrived just in time. We got to spend all day with this at a racetrack in Southern Nevada. Awesome little unit.

How awesome would it be if this module had the same reversible mounting plate as the XL Module. Plugs directly to the brain... no additional modules needed.

That would be dope!

Agree. A version without the need of module adapter would be awesome!

Does this module provide output power to the 2x AUX ports from the SideHandle RedVolt as well as from the V-mount?
When I go hand held I need some AUX power for accessories like my Bartech or an additional side LCD monitor for the focus puller. In past, we had to always use a V-mount to power these items as the SideHandle did not supply the power ports of the +1 Module.

nice! I really hope they make one that doesn't require the module adapter in between....

oh...we customers always want more right? they already made it why you dont want to buy module adapter.if there was a chance to do it without adapter bet they would do it.Red is not after selling one more module adapter.
afraid to see next customer gonna request quickplate does power camera itself.

I think this is more to do with shortly after this was announced, the RedVolt XL rear module, which doesn't need the module adapter, was also announced
Although as you say this module might not work with that design for other reasons

...received mine today!!! :001_wub:

Jarred,
one important question about this module :
if you have a redvolt in the side handle and no v-mount battery installed on the mount, do the 2 Lemo power outs work ? I heard it works on the +1 module, but it's not clear if it also works on this one ?

Thanks :)

We all know Red is looking out for their customers. But that is true that several persons asked already for a version of this plate without the need of using the module adapter. We've seen the clever design of the Redvolt XL rear module that allows both mounting on the back of the Epic itself and stacking onto another module. And since then, yes we want more, I agree with you.

It's not about saving 300 bucks by not buying an adaptor module, it's more about keeping the camera compact and lightweight which is a great native feature of the camera.

Actually I would have no problem in paying 300$ more for a version of the V-mount that would have a reversible mounting system. It would coast me the same as buying this version + the adapter module, but it would keep my Epic compact and light.

To me that would be my way to go in term of powering option, and I know my Acs would lot it too

If that makes sense.

Then that is also true that there maybe something obvious that we miss, that makes it impossible to do (but then, some can argue that we've seen Red doing impossible in the past).

Maybe it's a weight issue ? Redvolts XL are not too heavy so it's not a problem attaching them directly to the brain. V-Mount batteries on the other hand can become pretty heavy (up to 3 lbs for 230 Wh), so my guess is that Red decided to go the safe route and go through the adapter module.

If that's not the case, then I'd really like to have a version that attaches without the adapter module, similar to the Redvolt XL module, for the same reasons you gave.

anyone using the quick plate v-lock battery module already? does it work with all v-mount batteries or only with red bricks?
best wishes and kind regards,
martin
