  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

ProLine Film Gimbal co-developed by me :)

This is awesome news :D So happy I went with the Raven, can't wait to see what's in store and how it expands on the system, my mind is running wild with all the possibilities... count me in :D

Sorry I don't want to publish any details yet (that's the reason why I deleted some posts in this thread).

When we announce our partners late next week, it will be probably be quite clear in which direction we're going :)

David,
That is very important.

Everyday more and more players are getting into the game. However, many of those will die an untimely death leaving behind people with equipment without parts. So it is important that you are mentioning the suppliers/supporters.

Credibility of any product, which doesn't have the unprecedented hype created by Laforet, will depend upon:
1) How big/reputed the promoting company is. That will help people in knowing if the company is going to be in the game for long term as well as the ability to continue with development of software, upgradation etc

2) Manufacturing capability or the lack of it. I am all for the entrepreneur spirit, however, I won't trust my money with a guy working out of a garage. In the video, show us the machines and your manufacturing capability

3) price and features.

I'm sorry that I can't discuss yet openly the price and the partners.

But let's say that the price of the BeSteady4 group buy is not unbeatable, as advertized by them:) We'll offer different packages, which are upgradeable (with or without remote station etc...)

Also, I'm afraid that we can't start with the pre-orders this week, but we can probably announce our partners. I had last week nearly every day a meeting with different lawyers (patent & trade rights), and it takes time to form suitable contracts and to get an insurance for possible patent infringements (it's close to impossible to check all the patents out there, unless you spend a million on lawyers).

I'm proud to announce that the remote control unit is developed by MYT Works!

Also, we are working with RTmotion to integrate their remote follow focus systems into our gimbal and control unit.

First demo units will be out in mid November!

The rigs will ship in late December.

Both MYT and ProLine will finish their prototypes in early November. Until then, we're using test systems to evaluate the different parts like the motors, controller boards and so on.

We will ship the rigs in late December!

We will integrate the Paralinx Arrow into our system and also sell Paralinx products in our package. We'll also work closely together with RTmotion to integrate their remote follow focus solutions.

ProLine, MYT Works and a better TRUTH will do the development and manufacturing of the system.

Super. Great to see some good companies collaborating.

What is better truth?

I've been wondering for the last weeks how I should design the pricing structure of the gimbal. Since a lot of research and development, not only of ProLine and me, but also of MYT Works, some programers and several specialized lawyers, goes into it, we have to figure out the amount of rigs we can sell at different prices. Given this amount, we can distribute the research & development and other fixed costs. While of course calculating with some error margin, Luciano and I don't get any profit out of it, as long as we don't sell more than ~ 100 units, depending of course on how many rigs are being sold in which phase. What we get, of course, is an amazing system that we can later sell at a regular price, finally making some money out of it.

Also, we have to use 25% deposits which are not refundable until February 2014 to somehow limit our risks.

Anyway... what do you think about this structure:

Package price is 15.000USD. Included are:

* Gimbal
* Iso-elastic steadicam arm and vest
* MYT nodal head based remote control
* Custom AlexMos board
* Maximum camera weight 20lbs

Phase I - October 1st until October 31st: Group Buy :)

50% discount
Minimum are 60 orders
Deadline is October 31st
Shipment ~ January 10th

We will show in that time-frame footage which was shot with our prototypes, but will not show any photos of the gimbal or the control system itself, since we don't want that others copy our system before we even ship it.

November 1st until December 14th: pre-order I

25% discount (50 available)
We will test with some redusers in that time nearly finished prototypes and will publish photos and videos of the system
Shipment ~ February 1st

December 15th until shipment of the first finished rigs: pre-order II

15% discount
We will show in December the final version of the whole system. Also everyone can come over to ProLine in LA or to me in Germany (or to any of the other testers) to try it out.
Shipment ~ March 1st (depends on the amount of orders)

What do you think?

All packages include a vest and arm? Any thoughts on a product offering at some point for potential customers that already own a camera stabilization rig?

Just asking :wink5:
