  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

PRODUCT REQUEST: 15mm Lightweight support on Epic mounting Plate instead of Baseplate

I love it when the manufacturer comes out with the slimmest lightest camera body and the owners right away start piling metal pieces on it. Then they complaint the setup is too heavy and want titanium and carbon fiber accs. Pretty soon we'll be up to the REdOne weight and size and you won't be able to tell where the camera is. So typical...
OK rant over- don't flame me this is just opinion

You'r probably right... but basically the Epic is an modular cube with an hole in it. Now we have to make it ergonomic. The good is, every one gets his shooting solution. Work in progress...

I'm trying to keep it as light and mobile as possible...we're in doc mode right now and the 18-85 is the best way to go (with our 2x extender too). Keeping it slim is key -though having things like the Arri Dovetail and cam plate for the 2575B adds weight...

How is the 18-85 working out for you? Is vignetting an issue?

They are already doing it to DSLR's. It is nice to have the option to have it both ways.
 
18-85 is such a great lens...can never say enough about this workhorse. Almost never use primes in the doc world (just don't have the time).

At the wide end (18) there is vignetting but slight. if you roll the zoom in a bit to 19 or 20 at most it's gone. Of course when I have the extender on it's not a problem at all (aside from light loss).
 
Jarred -I've got some of the new bits such as the DSMC Top Mount and the Spinner -great work! And what's above keeps it rockin'

The ActionProducts Spacer or Audio-Riser allows for the 15mm Light Weight Rod Assembly to be attached to the front. This would also give you the added benefit of XLR input (and hidden cords) if utilized with the Audio-Riser. Any mounting or bridge plate can be attached on the bottom of the riser, so you can quickly change set-ups, while still maintaining a light and maneuverable configuration.

Below is one of our current configurations, there is more is come.

Just a quick update... We will also be offering the ActionProducts Riser Plate (without XLR audio) together with the 15mm adapter for lightweight setups. I will post pictures and prices when I have them.
 
I really need this as well - it makes much more sense for my type of filming to support a lens from the light weight rods, but they need to be attached to the base plate, not the QR - otherwise that becomes redundant(!) Standing by ...
