  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Pro I/O landed, no video, no Red port output. Is it enabled in 3.2.19?

My Pro I/O arrived yesterday. Installation is pretty straightforward but I'm not getting anything out of the Red port or the SDI spigots. If I connect the 5" touchscreen it gives a bit of a flash then stays black. If I connect a viewfinder to the Red port of the Pro I/O then I just get the colour chip chart. I've gone though the menu's but don't see any "ENABLE PRO I/O on/off" options.

I'm running firmware 3.2.19

I'm sending in a report ticket but it's still early on the west coast and looking to see if any east-coasters have any ideas.Cheers,

I'm more familiar with the release side of that page and not so much with the beta side. From what I've seen on Reduser a beta version is usually released to a flood of "red rules!" messages only to be followed up in a couple of day with messages about dropped audio, audio going out of sync, side handle bricking etc.

Stuart, is a full release firmware with Pro I/O support pending?

I can tell you that I have the new beta build 3.3.3 on my SCARLET, and EPIC, and I have had zero problems. I have been on multiple commercial shoots, with zero problems. And as of right now at least, you have to have it to operate the Pro I/O module, so have faith my man!

Once all the early bugs are reported by early adopters who think RED rules and spend free time testing new features and catching bugs RED can fix things and issue a 'release' version.

FWIW 3.3 has been very stable here and used on paid jobs after proper testing.

I just went through this myself. I'm not sure why the Pro I/O manual did not specify a minimum firmware version. Once again, the folks at Red seem to assume that we have all day long to skim through the forums for important technical information that most pro manufacturers would put in a manual somewhere...
Also, I get a message when I attach my Redmote saying that the firmware is out of date. I upgraded it with the 3.1.8 updater that came with the last release version of the firmware, 3.2.21. There were no Redmote updaters in either Beta build 3.3.3 or 3.3.4.
I will pull a support ticket of course but I'm wondering if anyone else has had a Redmote issue.
Cheers,
Harry

There is a separate download for the REDmote on the download page.

Oy. Thanks Trent.
Not to sound ungrateful, since I do apprecitare the quick and public response, but if a particular camera build requires a particular Redmote build, why is it not included with the camera's firmware folder???
Especially when it SOMETIMES, but not ALWAYS is included, but is ALWAYS required.
Can we standardize that a bit?
Cheers,
Harry

Hey, at least Red fixes its bugs.

Hoping AutoCAD 2013 will finally fix that bug that users have been reporting to Autodesk regularly since 2007? Good luck. While you're checking for that bug fix, try out the one or two (tiny) new features your $2100 update just gave you.

Finally got Nikon to admit that your D800 has the extremely well documented left focus point issue and think they might now be able to fix it? Good luck. And don't be shocked when they bill you several hundred dollars to fix their mistake (and still send your camera back unfixed, or with a whole new problem).

No complaints about the quality of the programming. And of course we know Red is a one of a kind company. Just looking for better documentation all around.
Cheers,
Harry

I have tried all the firmware builds, AC Power, handgrip power, IDX vmount power, Ab power and my AUX Power on my Pro I/O doesn't power a bartech or a TV logic monitor. Has anyone tried to use there AUX Power and with what????
