Hi, Mike. Would you happen to have closeup pictures of how you bolted the QR adapter onto the Shoot35 shoulder pad? I bought both on your recommendation (thanks, by the way!), but I could only figure out one way of attaching the two, which is via a single screw and which doesn't look very safe or stable and might put on too much tension on the threads. No two holes on the pad seem to properly line up with those of the adapter's.

Regards,
Josh

@ Stu LOL.
Surely you've got stuff in Alaska you can use as a backdrop.....like Polar bears ........or Sarah Palin :0. For power, I use both Redvolts & v mounts, just not mounted when the pics where taken. The shoulder mount is the Shoot 35 one see below for the link.

@ Peter
Thanks for the positive comment, noticed you just took delivery of your TI/PL......... NICE...serious envy!!!!

@ Jochem
Thanks for the nice comments. No the shoulder mount isn't tilt adjustable between the plate & the mount. I don't think it needs it, with its gentle curvature it sort acts like a pivot point on the shoulder, like a door hinge.

Here's the shopping list for the items that make up the shoulder mount. Hope this helps.

Shoot 35 Shoulder Pad http://www.shoot35.com/products/shoulder support/Shoulder Pad/shoulderpadframe.html
I removed the 15 mm rod support ( Good for reuse on the top plate) & just bolted (easy, no drilling its all interchangeable.) onto one of these .

Manfrotto QR System http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Manfrott...ultDomain_0&hash=item58927d5c9e#ht_4797wt_927

And then slide mounted to one of these. (Enage/disengage takes seconds)
Manfrotto Long Plate http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Manfrott...ultDomain_0&hash=item5892a46f18#ht_4269wt_927

Total cost for the above about $230 ish. The handles & yoke for the front end I purchased basically new & unused from various Red One owners. With Epic X stage 3 happening there are a ton of professional cinema accessories out there with no camera looking for a new home again around $200 ish for 2 handles, yoke & 15mm/19mm mounting block. You could most probably do even better now given how much of this stuff is out there for sale.

For those of you with the camera body (essentially) centred on your shoulder with handles coming far out front, how do you find operating the focus by yourself (with and without FF)? How much less stable or difficult is it when you're only holding one handle?

Wireless follow focus would be nice, but... well... so would always having an AC and/or Focus Puller and sometimes that's just not in the cards.

I've finally got my Scarlet #2332 "Cayenne" setup pretty well worked out...been tweaking it for a while and finally have a config that I am happy with. I still have a few more things I want to add...a second monitor for focus pulling, the new Tactical Top Plate and fan, and some side ribs. But otherwise, I think it is complete...for now, lol...there is always something else, isn't there?

Thanks Ben and Bob

and Ben yes used a lot, do like it, best option out there (though everyones ergonomic needs are different)

That said Movcam are refining it i think and the handle has undergone some changes too for the better and I understand they are sending me revised designs on all of it so will post my thoughts on that soon!

Hey tom
Love the Misfit myself :-)

though whats that LCD hood?

cheers
jason
jason, I thought hard about the Misfit, but decided my Contax would be happier with a rod mounted MB, so I went VIV. Really happy with it so far...getting the swing-away bracket for it soon. And as Bob and Ben said, that is the Cinetactics hood...love it!

cool though theres a rod mount (LW15) for the misfit) and a swing away bracket imminent

cheers
jas
yeah, those weren't announced at the time I bought my VIV. If I were buying today, I might decide to go Misfit.
