  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Post Your Scarlet-X Rig

Hello everyone !

Those are the picture of the 2 differents set-up I have for the Red Epic.
One being more lightweight than the other, working good for handheld, while the others is more appropriate for studio shoot, where cables and additional components are required.

Both set-up and accessories can be designed for both 15mm studio offset or 19mm.

I found that as much as 15 LW can sound appealing due to its lightweight set up, in my thoughts, it is strictly for dSLR EF-mount and nothing else.

I have a FF5-HD follow focus also, that can be both mounted for 15 or 19mm.

I had a bad experience with the red quick release platform and decided to go with the old school bridge plate, as it never failed me.

Would love to hear your thoughts !

Are there any cages that actually will allow you to use your DSMC side handle?

I think they all do, you'd just have to remove the one front-right rib (and potential the back-right rib as well, since it might get in the way of your hand.) Wouldn't that work?

I would just be worried that all the weight would then be put on the left ribs (unless the ribs really do nothing except act as side protection?)

The ribs do not hold any weight. They are there to attach accessories to. Hence why you can use the top and bottom plates without any ribs.

Bob,

Our Sidearms hold the entire camera. They were designed to allow you to mount your camera sideways if need be..hence the witness mark on the centerline of the lens.

Very true John. I have your ribs on my camera actually. I thought the question was wether you need them on both sides of the camera.

Very happy with this setup for HH work. Light, compact and fairly affordable. Genus Shoulder Pad mounted on Manfrotto 357 QR system -- CineCity Front Handles -- Ocon Obox -- WC UVF v2

Nice rig Jack....trying to configure a shoulder rig myself at the moment-genus shoulder pad looks very interesting-how comfortable is it on a scale of 1-10?

Thanks

Bob --- Looks like you've got some Berkey System and Solid Camera accessories making up your rig. Like it a lot. Which ones are they specifically?

All the rods are Berkey.
90 degree corners are Berkey.
Handle is old Cinevate
Plates top and bottom are WC.
EVF mount is Solid Camera.
15mm Block on plates are from WC too.
