  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Post Your Scarlet-X Rig

A few BTS shots from a Band/Honda Civic Promo I shot.Shoot went great, no hick-ups with the Scarlet, shot about 220-250GB per day.

Hi Harry.
Do you own that Minigyro? Or rented it in Brighton?
Recently I needed one for an helicopter shot and discovered there are no units in Italy to rent.
Cheers
Alvise

It's a standard Noga/Israeli/Cine Arm. I've had it for years. I think I grabbed this one from Filmtools. They can be found nearly anywhere, Red sells a 9" that would work too.
The LCD cable is a longer Red cable, I think 18". It's an older one that I acquired through an aggressive game of roshambo from a friend.

For my operating style I honestly can't imagine life without that Noga Arm. I move that LCD around for nearly every setup to make things nice and comfy for me when operating. I had the LCD mounted on top of the camera for about 35 minutes when I first got it, and it began to drive me insane. I'd rather move the monitor than get an apple box and hop up on it to see above the camera. Great for compact setups having it right up there on top dead center, but not so good for everyday use. I'm using two loose pieces of velcro on the arm to help wrangle the LCD cable as I move the monitor around. Keeps things out of the way as I adjust the position.

Nice setup Phil.

I was interested in similar setup, did not know which motor to get for the cineslider, considering all the weight (frankly did not have the time.

Which ones to do you recommend for video fast to extremely slow movements, with the same amount of weight?

Just received my Scarlet on Monday, here's my current shoulder set-up. I'm actually quite pleased with how balanced it is, I can run the zoom and focus without having to support hardly any of the rig's weight using my arms. Cheers

Thanks. The 500 is what I use. It handles very slow to a speedy crawl. I wouldn't say it's fast. That would be the 200 for real quick movements. I find the 500 is good for most realistic moves, but if I had a 5 foot Cineslider I'd also invest in a 200 for sure. There's a cool thing on Kesslers site with calculated times.

No offense to any of the rigs in this thread, to each their own. However, I'm unclear why more folks aren't using Anton Bauer batteries and plates on their Scarlet? Is it just the price? V-Locks are huge for the most part. The AB Dionic batts are small, light and have an incredibly accurate led charge gauge. When mounted on the Epic/Scarlet they are almost exactly the dimension of the back of the camera and look and function like they were made specifically for it. Seem like a perfect solution, right?

As for price. You just bought a pro grade camera. Seems its kindof a pay to play game anyway.

Maybe there's something I'm missing?

V-Mount are large, but more more commonplace on lower budget sets, not everyone has Anton Bauers, but a lot have many different brands of V-Mount, so choosing that gives you more options in renting a variety of batteries, rather than be locked into Antons.

Price didn't play into my decision at all. I actually like ABs.

However, for the capacity of the batteries I like to use the ABs battery size width actually block access to the SSD slot. That's a no go for me and I didn't want to build or wait on an offset adapter.

why are links shown here and not the picture itself ? PLEASE HELP ME WITH THAT :-(
i´ve never posted a picture, who can help me out ?

thanks, norbert

Either use the attachment function, or if you can host the pictures somewhere else (so you have a URL address) - use the small frame icon (with the tree - third from the right) in the dialog box where you type posts to add the URL of the picture you want to post...:

Thanks, Phil for the info.

But will 200 motor be fast enough for a rig like this?
