John am I seeing things or are your top rods attached with an upside-down Redrock DSLR Baseplate? Hilarious.

Also, why is there a Red Universal Mount up there with nothing on it?

Yep lol... Can't take the credit though, stole the idea from Phil Holland lol..

One day my top piece will be done being created and it will go away. However, having that upside down Redrock DSLR baseplate for a top handle quick release is extremely convenient for packing the camera up.

Great. Thanks for the info John!
The red painted screws are nice ;)

As is the tripod and head. Got the same waiting here for my scarlet

EDIT: not implying I don't like the rest. Far from it. It's a great setup.

Here is my build.

I am currently setting it up in these pics, so there was no bellows on the mattebox yet, and running AC over my shoulder since I have no sidehandle.

Hi Phil, how long does the scarlet run on the GMP 160 battery?

Hi Gerald. Around 2 hours and 40 minutes after using them for a few months. Depending on my shooting style for the day, fan control, and a few other things you can add 10-15 minutes to that.

Hey Phil,
Was wondering where you got the monitor arm and the LDC cable from. Cable doesn't look like RED but not sure if another company makes them. Nice set up.
Cheers,
Philipp

It's a standard Noga/Israeli/Cine Arm. I've had it for years. I think I grabbed this one from Filmtools. They can be found nearly anywhere, Red sells a 9" that would work too.
The LCD cable is a longer Red cable, I think 18". It's an older one that I acquired through an aggressive game of roshambo from a friend.

For my operating style I honestly can't imagine life without that Noga Arm. I move that LCD around for nearly every setup to make things nice and comfy for me when operating. I had the LCD mounted on top of the camera for about 35 minutes when I first got it, and it began to drive me insane. I'd rather move the monitor than get an apple box and hop up on it to see above the camera. Great for compact setups having it right up there on top dead center, but not so good for everyday use. I'm using two loose pieces of velcro on the arm to help wrangle the LCD cable as I move the monitor around. Keeps things out of the way as I adjust the position.
