  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Possible Redvolt field battery tests on Scarlet X? And RED brick questions

Thanks Luis, can anyone recommend V-mount batteries?

I bought Global Media Pro batteries built so it would display % on the RED One, and I believe it will work on the Epic/Scarlets displays too

$299 per 160wh battery plus ~$200 for the charger.

I already own a few AB mount batteries, can anyone suggest a good converter solution to mount those AB mount's to this V-mount plate?

Any idea what kind of runtime that'll get you, Zac?

140WH RED BRICKS supposedly last on the EPIC for 2 1/2 to 3 hours, so the extra 20WH and the lower power use of the Scarlet... maybe 3-4hours per battery?

I have no clue how long they take to charge though.

Yup, I'm looking forward to my Brook plate arriving as well! Best power option for sure!!!

I do not believe the Redvolts last long enough for me and I hate the thought of having to cary a bunch around with me and swaping them out ever half-hour or so... don't get me wrong I will still get some so I dont have to turn the camera off when I swap out vmount batteries and for super quick stuff, but other than that I'm going to go vmount all the way!

I agree, I'd rather carry 1 big V-mount battery with a few extra addons, then have to carry around 6-8 redvolts to get the same run time.

Well... I'd rather have the quad redvolt module... but I expect that's going to be tough to get once it hits the store.
(and probably out of my budget for now)

Very true, but you'd get around 2 hours from that, but be hotswappable. I just don't like that the redvolts last 30minutes, but take 2 hours to charge.

We hope everyone spending all this money including us gets the return in your and our investments , but one can only hope we all get are moment in the spotlight with such competition out there =) We wish all of you good luck and Wealth =)

Nice.
Just to be clear - these are the batteries you're talking about, right?

Looks like they make a 190wh as well as a 230wh battery.

I'm a bit concerned the camera will be too "back heavy" with a V-mount battery for hand held work. Any thoughts on this?

Entirely dependent on the lens used, and size of the V-Mount battery... ;)

We have two of the APU-IDX Battery Plate coming in on our Dubai shoot, as we know we'll need longer Battery duration for either Epic or Scarlet, and this is a great solution.

Even so we'll modify one to take the Bebob Rouge 120 so to have 120sec. time to change battery with a Hot Swap while the camera remains powered up... ;)

Pics will be seen in our usual BTS stuff... ;)

I have the Switronix XP-L95RED, I have not used it on camera yet but it is fairly light at a half-pound. It sends battery information to the Red as well. It is 95WH and can be carried on to an airplane as well. Lasts about 1hour and 15minutes. I have not used it yet, but it comes highly recommend!

That looks like a great option - but to be clear, it weighs 1.8 pounds.... a bit more than half a pound.

I'll be getting 4 Rv's, I planned on 6-8, but found a better power source option. Instead of spending 2 grand on a backpack and quickplate, then more on power I can add this sucker http://www.viewfactor.net/index.php/products/epic-acc/fmj-top-x-1.html

And power for about the same price as a backpack and quickplate w/o power.

Thought I'd share with you guys as something to consider. I'll let you know what kind of run times I get off both but I don't think this is an option you can pass up if you want to run Bricks. It was a no brainer to me. I shoot outside in the cold and while RV's are nice, I like the idea of this set up even more. The pictures show the simplicity of how easy it is to connect. Before when I was considering Bricks I was looking at a belt clip (heavy and awkward for shooting in some instances) and the additional cable you had to buy for $190. And attaching it to the camera seemed like a better fit for my work.

Hey Jeffrey, do you know for a fact that the battery plate you mentioned works with regular red bricks? (http://www.viewfactor.net/index.php/...j-top-x-1.html) I emailed those guys a few days ago and still no response -- or a phone number. Also wanted they to state in their email response that it would fit the same way on the Scarlet as it would on the Epic.
