I have recently done a fresh install of Snow Leopard on my MacBook Pro and have installed the REDCODE Quicktime component. However, whenever I try to open one of the quicktime proxy files in Quicktime 7, or in FCP, I get the following error:

The movie file "A003_C096_1022N1_001.R3D" cannot be found. Without this file, the movie cannot play properly.

I can then search and point it to the R3D file and have it work, but I have to do it every time, with every clip.

I've tried various RED footage and had the same result with all the clips.

If I try to open the proxy files in Quicktime X, I get a black window that lets me play through the length of the file, but shows me nothing.

I've tried removing and reinstalling the codec, as well as trashing QT preferences, to no avail.

Any ideas?

Thanks-

You can use RED ALERT or CLIPFINDER as a way to recreate all of the reference movies.

That did it.

That did it.

Rebuilding the reference movies seems to work - thanks.

Still seems strange that these exact reference movies played fine off this exact drive on any other system I try.

Hmm. . .

Hmm. . .

It's OK. as long as the r3d's are in tact.
