Hey guys, my team is considering investing in new V-Mount bricks. A set that works flawlessly with Weapon/DSMC2, and is also very practical to use/charge/swap.

We're Looking for ONE brand that provides both travel options (ie under 100), and also large Studio Sizes (over 200).

I've created a Poll to see what people are finding most compatible with DSMC2.

Love to see what you are all using!

Step one : Ditch V mount.

God I hate V mount so much.

second : Pag hands down. Stackable so you get the 95wh and 190wh (or more) in the same battery.

pro level battery.

Not cheap but small light and pro.

If you want cheap gold mount, GMP will work but are just "so-so" there are like ten different batteries that are the same - like Beillen.

All my accessories are V-Mount (Flanders, etc)...so gotta keep that.

Yeah...seriously leaning Paglink.

Do they communicate perfectly with RED?

Yup they communicate so you don't need the "time" version, get pl96e or pl150e

I have the new 150wh coming in a couple weeks, looking forward to them. When I tested it at NAB it felt nearly the same weight.

The upcoming red slim vmount redvolt will be great for gimbals and drones

PAG is really good love the stack and charge feature. But they dont have Dtap. I have not tested their power distro sandwich thing, but it looks like it possibly works well.

I sold all my other battery options and now just use big blueshape Granites for everything. I also moded one of them so it pings it's position home if my stuff get lost and evil as I am I changed the labels so they all say 90Wh even if their not. Tired of arguing with flight staff that four 90Wh batteries in a bag is actually a greater fire hazard than two 190Wh batteries...

Then I use the new Ronin batteries with the power distro and when red start selling their volt V lock I will buy one of those to use with the ronin so I can hotswap and power down the gimbal without loosing camera or FIZ power.

if i could start over id get blue shape minis, or those new dynacore minis.
but when i got mine all that was really avail was switronix hypercore slim, and they have been great and cheap.
but professionally on my sets i see mostly dynacore and sometimes blue shape

I'm using a medley of Anton Bauer Cine and REDVOLT XLs at the moment, but something worth saying is RED's got some new sub 100Wh capacity V-Lock bricks coming that are pretty sexy IMO.

The PAGlink power hub is very cool... It weighs very little and you can order it from them with any power plug option (and it also does 5v)

I'm uncomfortable with relabelling batteries... and would personally look at other options.. Perhaps like the PAGlinks 150?

I have never had a problem with switronix. mainly because their CS is great and when you call they send you to the guy who repairs the batteries... if he cant fix/re-cell them he sends you a new one.. pretty great

Why hasn't Red released an Anton Bauer base expander or an Anton Bauer battery module for DSMC2? I am not a big fan of V lock and I think of Red made one, many of us would run to buy it.

Anton Bauer Cine Batteries are the way to go.. with a Vmount adapter

I use Red Volt XL and it works great... travels really well

I've been with Anton Bauer since I started video production. I love their new CINE batteries, but needed a bit more Wh so I have a few of their 190 Wh digital batteries. Each one lasts 3 hours on my Weapon which gives 30 more minutes then the 150 Wh CINE batteries. They are not as long in length so for some camera rigs are a bit more convenient to use and have practically the same weight.
I couldn't recommend them more!

I don't understand why there hasn't been any development on the battery tech side yet. After all the news about MIT and other researchers who made breakthroughs with technologies much safer and better than Li-Ion, I would have thought that battery companies like Anton Bauer would feed their own money into that research in order to be first with such a product. There's tech out there in development that could make one battery last an entire day of shooting, but why haven't it been put into actual products?

If someone knows more about it, that would be awesome, cause I'm still waiting for that small factor 6 hour runtime algae-based battery I read about five years ago :tongue_smilie:

Blue shape all the way for me love them!!!

But nobody makes a Gold Mount battery that transmits data to the RED camera, right? Gold Mount is only two pins right?
