  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Picture of a Weapon

From what we know so far it looks like RED has combined the functionality of the side handle, red mote and switchblade into a new side module (or two). It also appears that this device can be used either wirelessly or snapped on the camera. Based on the early peeks, other than adapters to support existing RED EVF/LCD products and power options that use RedVolts, I wouldn't count on any existing module working with Weapon.

Cheers - #19

The Display can be same + video as redmote

Somewhere Brent is holding his head in his hands! LOL

rock on Jarred! Keep them coming.

Jarred is on a roll!

This images shows a setting of 4K at 120FPS with 5:1 compression, I wonder if that is "maxed out" in terms of the frame rate that 4K will do (I would hope its higher with the new hardware) and the low compression. ISO is set to 800 BTW

Edit:
Opps I got beat to the punch.

Looking at the picture it seems obvious these are lemo power out below the battery, not audio.
Regarding the side connectors, it has been said this was the legacy I/O but other module(s) will come with different set(s) of plugs...

Your eyes are better than mine! Maybe I was projecting what I wish for. I hope David is right that somewhere we have more solid audio in than the 1/8" plugs - they always seemed strange on a camera of this level.

I actually wish they would also just build a scratch mic (only a few dollars cost) into the body like on a black magic camera - it is really handy.

I just love how this looks and I think the redmote/switchblade morph is excellent. I don't think it pops off though, looks like 4 screws in there

Looks like the body height is the same so baseplate accessories will work.
New top plates for the top plate lovers.
start stop handle looks cool though.

Wonder if we will see a "weapon on a scale" shot soon? It looks tinier than epic.

I like that the ports on the rear/side are angled and more accessible than underneath. I agree that the LCD on the side and other controls look to be part of the package and not a module. But I can't be sure, its possible its a "four screw" module.

It certainly dosent look as wide as the Epic neither, when you see people holding it.
I´ve said before I think the side module is screwed on.
They have only showed it with Revolts so far, wonder if a V-lock solution is ready yet?

FW has probably not yet been maxed out for weapon. Chances are 120@4k is random.

Yeah and it looks like the record button is separate from the control area (like the redmote/switchblade morph is one piece and the record/power is attached to the body premaritally)

ok, ok, I know I said I would hold off on speculation... but this is too much fun!

I'm gonna guess the "interesting" lens being held is:
VV/FF 90mm T3.6 anamorphic prime w/ IF at 60ft
(base on the hawk lens setting in the BG)
