  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Phil Holland's PhilmColor Creative 3D Luts for IPP2

Excuse my ignorance, exactly how do I import these into a Creative 3D LUT Manager in the beta Cine-x Pro? I can't even find the Manager.

You won't see the Creative 3D LUT Manager until you have a clip open in the viewer. Once you do, it should be in the right-hand panel, under the "Image: Grading" tree.

If it's still not there, right click in the right panel and see if "Image: Grading" is checked.

Once you find it, to import LUTs, expand the Creative 3D LUT Manger tree and click "Edit" at the bottom of that section and then "Import."

Phil,

Do these work with DSMC1 R3D Dragon files?
I'll admit I've been slow to investigate IPP because I've had the impression it is for DSMC2/Helium only.

IPP2 works with all REDCODE RAW .R3Ds.

In camera is Helium only.

In post, everybody gets to party.

Phil,

Are all of the Luts from the Individual Lut Packs of PhilmColor designed to all work completely together within a Lut Stack for a clip, Or would some negate the others?

I personally would recommend against it as stacking LUTs isn't the best idea as some applications do weird things, but I have done some tests and you might find some combinations that work for you for sure.

Especially if you are doing something likea .R3D w/ RWG/Log3G10 > ghostStock > baseStock and/or printModel.

Fun to experiment for sure.

btw these luts are sick

steve

Thank ya!

Phil,

Are the "PrintModels" meant to be used to prepare the "BaseStocks" for the final transfer to a specific film stock, or is the film response curve built into the "PrintModels" Lut

You can "do that" in a grading package. But ideally, you should just use them on their own via the Creative 3D LUT Manager and if you want to add any flavor to them using the additional grading tools.

The reality is if it's giving you the image you want and there's no issues with the image, go for it.

Each printModel has it's own unique tonal response. Flat, flatter, punchy, norm.

I just bought and am not able to load the LUTS . I don't get an X or enable next to creative 3D LUT drop down menu. Tried every thing i can think of . Any help, please?

Thanks,
Tim

Are you using the latest beta of REDCINE-X Pro?

Hi Phil,
Yes.

REDCINE-X PROFESSONAL - Build 50 For Beta 1

Interesting.

If you have a clip selected you should have this:

It is possible that your preferences have defaulted to Legacy, make sure it looks like this:
