Hello all,

Very, very excited to announce a new interactive web tool has joined my little family of PHFX | tools:

Quick overview!

shotPrep is deisgned to assist you in planning a shoot as well as helping out with sharing your intentions along through post.

First you select your Acquisition Format from the large list list of supported cameras and then......

- optionally rotate the format 90° (great for social media, anamorphic, and exhibition work)
- optionally select an Anamorphic Squeeze Factor
- optionally create a Frame Extraction based on % and Aspect Ratio or a very precise Pixel Resolution
- optionally enter Lens Focal Lengths and enter a custom label

shotPrep then generates a preview with a lot of data at your finger prints including.
- Acquistions and Extraction Resolutions, Aspect Rations, Megapixel Counts, and Format Sizes
- Recommended Standard Delivery Resolutions in DCI and UHD Aspect Ratios
- Produces an Anamorphic Visualizer
- Provides HFOV and VFOV for each Lens Focal Length taking into account your Frame Extraction and Anamorphic Settings
- Generates a Full Resolution Transparent PNG Frame Guide with Composition Markers, Just Thirds, Just Centers, or a Clean

As always the results are bookmarkable, shareable, and mobile friendly.

This is a very powerful one. Some of my favorite things you can do with this are forward along your camera and frame settings as well as lenses used on a specific shoot to a rental house, post production, VFX, etc.

Special thanks to all the sponsor for keeping the development of these tools alarmingly active. Our newest member being Atlas Lens Co., which ties in nicely to the anamorphic features of shotPrep.

To show off all the bells and whistles, here's an example with RED V-Raptor S35 7K 6:5 2X Anamorphic with the full lineup of Atlas Orion 2X Anamorphics using an 80% Frame Extraction after Unsqueezing the image:

Thanks Phil for yet another tool for reference!

Some very, very inexpensive anamorphics coming shortly. And some fairly affordable good ones too. Next month will be busy.

Really glad you're enjoying this tool. This particular one is based on feedback and requests over the last few years. In particular for anamorphic lenses and formats that lead to wider than 2.39:1 unsqueezed results, having the ability to wrangle in the frame guide is super useful.
