  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Parker, Irvine

I dont understand i thought for sure there would be blacksmiths making these tough looking cameras

The Blacksmith section is in the room behind all these rows to the left :)

Jarred or Jim, care to share any pics of Nikon mounts being manufactured and stamped with a sell-by date?

MRP, ABC, JIT, ERP...gives me a W - O - O - D - Y !!!

Congrats guys...

o they exist.. have one on my desk right now :)

if the firmware was finished there would be one on your desk as well :)

Oh, hey Deanan and Rob. You look as fine as ever. :)

Great pics, Jarred. I need to see this in person. Much more sophisticated than what it was like when the EPIC-M's and Scarlet were being assembled at RSH. Both, equally cool.

Thanks for sharing...

Ah. I love a good look behind the green curtain. Nice to see production is growing and with a keen eye on quality control. Nice work.

Close.. this is just part of assembly where the SPM ( sensor positioning mechanism ) is installed in the body. No back focus is being done at this point, as there is no sensor yet :)

Thanks for the explanation.

You know, seeing these pictures, and hearing how the identity of each camera's 'owner' is known, makes me wonder how feasible it would be to offer customers a set of assembly line pictures taken at key parts of their particular camera's manufacture. Someone selecting that option when they order their camera could download a file containing the pictures even before their camera has finished testing and is delivered. Such a feature would make more sense if a card or something with the owners name was passed along the assembly line with the camera and shown in the pictures, or the serial number of the camera could be shown at some point, just to personalize the otherwise generic pictures. Might be more effort than it would be worth, and maybe there wouldn't be much interest in such a thing from RED or their customers, just thought I'd put the idea out there.

So cool to get an inside look at a company that actually physically produces things themselves. More of a rarity than most people would think.

SO awesome. I want a tour!!! :)

On that note, you guys mentioned the possibility of someday opening up tours for Irvine...this still on the table? I would love to see it.
Absolutely fascinating.
