  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

Any way to power this from Red's aux power connector when the new +1 module comes out?

I doubt that,

Sure are. this is definitely a deal.

theres a few other options coming i saw at NAB including the very nice action products transmitter for about $2K (shipping TBA) but you are tied to DSMC for that. and a couple of others coming but they were similar money, waaaay bulkier and only a 1/3 the quoted transmission distances of the Paralinx. As much as i HATE hdmi with a passion it makes it a camera flexible option if you also shoot on the (of course shameful and embarrassing) DSLR's

The newer batch of existing options like the Switronix Recon, IDX or boxx etc are bulky, require V lock or AB and are $3 - 5k+ with many other options into $25K+

My money is down and if they ship in the quoted 2 weeks will be the first non-unicorn solution in the wild with something this good, this flexible and this cheap. Congrats Dan

Does the transmitter pass through HDMI? That would allow me to still run a focus puller's monitor on the rig and send the signal back to village at the same time.

Respectfully disagreed.
I'm using HDMI wireless unit for under $500 (up to 4 receiver - sold separately)

Currently waiting to test http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ...KCASTAV_LinkCast_Wireless_HD_Audio_Video.html

ok.. is it a secret? :-)

Though the high end systems typically have SDI, Paralinx is still dead cheap for a 250'+ range, HD signal with a firm release date.
And if the unit you speak off is $500 transmitter only then fair to assume $1K for TX/RX pair? which is no cheaper. So it comes down size, real world, workable TX range (?) and state of existence :-)

And the other unit you want to test is 'quoted' at 40' ft. So no doubt less in the real world.. and a deal killer in mine.

Okay - fresh back from Korean BBQ (if you can call that fresh) - my wife is a little mad at me for getting right online here, but that's okay she understands.

Firstly - I'd like to thank everyone who has been super supportive and inquisitive about this product. It's been Three years in the making for me and my team and I think we have come up with something that is an excellent solution for the pricepoint. Mr. Wingrove basically hit the nail on the head.

Our implementation is unique and special and that is why we are able to achieve such good results.

I want to say this:

We can't be all things to all people all the time.

What we want to do is provide a cost effective, very usable device that makes a lot of people's lives better.

That's the reason we started this pursuit in the first place - I PERSONALLY HAD A NEED FOR A SYSTEM JUST LIKE THIS AND NO ONE WAS MAKING ONE.

Regarding HD-SDI - it's very easy and affordable to implement HD-SDI externally using a Decimator 2 or Blackmagic Battery HDMI/SDI converter, and the upcoming bi-directional Decimator SDI/HDMI product will be an excellent accomplice. I know that a lot of people are saying "I don't want to hang any more stuff off my rig" - it's still smaller than many competitor rigs, draws less power, and is still way cheaper. And the range is not half bad.

Oh and latency - ultra low latency is important for showing picture to directors and producers.

About One to Many Transmission:

It is something we would really like to do, and we are evaluating whether it is something achievable by a user serviceable firmware update, or whether it has to be introduced in a special upgrade kit.

It's "Possible" - but we are using 128 bit encryption in order to guarantee that actors won't be the subject of "wireless Paparazzi" rips done over the air outside the studio lot or on location.

Our goal is to maintain security, while also giving our users the most capability (including one to many broadcast transmission) without compromising cost, or effectiveness and range.

The best way we can please our customers is by giving them maximum achievable quality NOW, and doing what we can to offer Broadcast in the future.

One possible solution for a situation like this is to send from the Camera to a Video Village/playback Cart, distribute to monitors on the cart utilizing SDI from a DA, and then if you need a second wireless feed (like a producer/client village) you can redistribute the signal out to a secondary transmitter and blast that to the producer village.

I'm going to do some very informative videos in the coming weeks to show every facet of configuration and how to get the best results from your system.

It's not just about being a good product, but also being an educated User. There are ways to get more range through placement and mounting, and ways that you can achieve optimal results - it just takes knowledge and planning - and PARALINX wants to help you with that.

Here is what is included in the kit:

1xTransmitter
1xReceiver
1x IR remote configurator
1x USB a/b mini cable
1x AC/USB power plug
1xD-Tap to USB Power Cable (can charge ipad, iphone, other devices)
1xAC to Receiver Cable
1xManual

we also offer a D-Tap Kit for the receiver side which includes:

D-Tap USB Cable
USB to Receiver Power Cable

You can also power the receiver with a decent USB battery.
My favorite one is this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Lenmar-PPW66-PowerPort-Wave-6600/dp/B005DTJI7Y
Lasts 6+ hours. Really a nice battery and not terribly expensive. You can get cheaper, but this is Legit.

We also can custom make Fischer to ARROW power cables as necessary if you request them via our distributor.

I'm going to do my best to wade through all the questions out there tomorrow, and I believe I will be able to stop by the "Stabiilizer Con" at Filmtools parking lot in burbank tomorrow for an hour or so.

In the meantime, I'd like to say again that we really appreciate all of the community support out there - and we appreciate the questions too because they are good ones.

Best to all,

Dan Kanes

Which is exactly why I said SIMILAR systems, Kwan. Similar, meaning similar performance. A 40ft range is nothing. It cannot be called similar in any way.

100% agreed, Jason, thanks for chiming in. Btw say hi to Nathan Rodger for me next time you see him :)

Thx Dan good to hear all that..
may I add to the questions list already.. Is the Dtap cable stepping down to 5V or is the TX stepping the given voltage down ?

And if your running the TX etc off USB does it need to be the higher amperage (ie iPad 2A etc) variety?

oh and some pics of the kit would be good soon kthxbye :-)

Hi Jason - The D-Tap Cable steps down the voltage to 5V at 2A (enough to charge an ipad)

The transmitter and receiver both consume roughly 1A of power - I like to use higher amperage capable because sometimes when at the outer limits of transmission power consumption can spike, and if you are way above tolerances you are guaranteed to have a "better experience" - that being said you can run it with a 1A battery - but sometimes 1A is not really 1A (like a lot of the time with eBay batteries unfortunately)

This system looks great and at the price point and range / latency its a great achievement.

However the lack of multiply receivers is a real killer so I really hope you can get the encryption working for say 4 monitors at a time.
Having only one monitor limits the system way too much.

Dan,

Encryption to protect from the "wireless Paparazzi" really only offers benefit to a small proportion of users. Even though I work on TVC and network TV the images would be rarely of any interest to outsiders. Switchable encryption could allow multiple recievers but if you had a sensitive job and needed encryptionn you would only then have to deal with one receiver?

Good point!

+1 for the multiple receivers without encryption :)

Would it be possible to feed the paralinx from an hdmi splitter.? All I really need is to feed a smallhd monitor for the focus puller and the paralinx for the director.

For me, the problem with HDMI is the roughness of the cable, not your device. Are there other cable solutions that bends Better?
