Ok, so I know this is an incredibly niche thing... I basically created it just because it was something I wanted. This is a prototype, 3D printed in grey so it's easier to see the details of.

(Note: this transmitter is OEM, but CineGears and ActionProducts both sell this transmitter--it's great, I'd highly recommend it)

In short, I was never going to use the Sony battery plate that was installed on my video transmitter, so I figured why not make a plate that can power the transmitter straight from my PAG without a cable. Not only does it eliminate a cable but it gives a nice secure mounting point on my rig without using arms, rods, velcro or getting in the way of anything. I was able to utilize the secondary power input that the Sony plate used, as well as the same mounting holes and cable hole, so this plate just mounts in place of the Sony one.

Here is the transmitter mounted on the PAG battery, you can see the power light is on.

Here we can see how low profile it is. 8.2mm thick. I actually just went and measured the Sony plate that came on it--12.2mm! So this is 4mm thinner... and since I work in marketing, I'll say "It's over 30% slimmer!" to make that sound extra impressive.

And here is the plate. This picture also shows a part I think is a clever little design: the locking mechanisms on the bottom of the plate slide under two little blocks on the back of the battery, preventing it from pulling off. It's nice and snug. These little sliding tabs are actually 3D printed in place, they are held captive by their own shape, so they can't fall out!

Anyway, not sure if anyone else on here happens to be using PAG link v-mounts with this video transmitter and would be interested in some of these (they work for both the transmitter and receiver). I might make up a couple batches. They'll all be 3D printed, of course.

This is how the good stuff often get started... including RED cameras... so keep it up !

Great idea. I have and love the pags and this idea of piggybacking is super. I am going to go through my equipment and see what else would benefit from a mount such as this.

Haha thanks, Mikael. I don't currently own a RED but I've got the Scarlet-W on preorder, and I'm definitely looking to grab FoolControl! A buddy of mine has it for his Dragon and was showing me all the features. Great work!

Regarding my adapter:
I ordered some more banana pins and bought wire harnesses that fit the ActionProducts/CineGear/OEM power port, so if I print some extras up for anyone interested, there shouldn't need to be any soldering or modification (I had to splice some wires because the original wires were too short). Just unscrew the battery plate, unplug it, then plug this one in its place.

Scott Devitte, let me know if you think of anything. Some other accessories I have (RedRock base station) don't have internal ports for a battery plate, so the whole internal-wiring idea doesn't really work.

Another thing I might do is just print up a couple of these without wiring and just with a nice flat surface, so once you click it onto the PAG, you just have a flat surface to velcro or DualLock to.

Still waiting for some parts to come in the mail and I've got to make some tweaks to my 3D printer (having some print quality issues...). I just want to make sure these are printed well so they hold up the best they can. I'll probably throw them up for sale on my site, might do two options: single plate or double plate set (since it works for both Tx and Rx). Slight discount for the double set.

A little update, i know it's been a few months. I had my transmitter quit working on a shoot back in February. Had to ship it off to China to get repaired, so it's been an incredibly slow process to say the least. Not sure what happened with the transmitter. I think my AC tried connecting the D-tap cable while it was mounted on a PAG battery already. Not sure if the system can't handle simultaneous power (can anyone who has or sells these confirm?) but the OEM repaired it for me and it's on its way back. If the transmitter cannot handle both happening, I'll probably 3D print a small DC plug that you can put in the DC jack to remind you not to use both at once.

On the flip side, though, I made a slightly modified version that runs a cable out the side of the plate. I was contacted by Kyle Bainter through REDuser, he uses a Paralinx but wanted a convenient way to mount and power it. So even if you don't use this transmitter, there is a chance I could wire it to power different units. Not sure if I can dedicate time to design mounting holes for various devices, so I might just make it flat with some dual-lock included. Then at least you can power+mount conveniently on the back of a PAG battery.

This is awesome. Love it.
