  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

origo wireless !

I assume the focus control will be limited by whatever the coarseness or fineness is in the RED firmware (and the lens itself, obviously)? In other words, is there any way that the Origo will produce finer steps or incremental focus change than that observed when focus is mapped to the +/- rocker switch on the REDMote or side handle?

Yeah, been waiting on that one, with complete camera control and slating utilities... RED

WHOA!!!!!!

Way cool...

The focus bit got me.
Someone bring out a remote focus unit for CANON AF without the aid of a new mount. I'll be even more impressed !
And by 4 units 2 seconds later.

Some of us are still waiting on the Impero/ Inclino FF kits that we paid for like 5 and a half years ago... Or a refund of those monies originally paid...

Jeff, have you actually requested a refund? I'm under the impression Curt has refunded everyone who's ever asked for one. We can all agree that it's not great the Imperos and Inclinos never actually shipped, but lets not give Curt and Viewfactor more heat than they deserve.

Requested refunds multiple times. I'm not the only one still waiting. The last peace offering from VF came about 2 years back when they offered those of us still awaiting the elusive Inclino/ Impero kit, or the equally elusive refund, to choose other equipment in lieu of what they have yet to give us. Unfortunately, they haven't produced anything else I've needed or wanted. I don't need DLSR cages or more remote triggers or yet another EPIC top plate. I don't feel I'm giving Curt or VF any more heat than they deserve. Quite to the contrary. I'm just reminding them they still have obligations left unfilled. If it were not for myself and several others who put their faith and cash in the hands of VF back in 2008, they would not be here today.

I have to say it sounds weird you haven't gotten your refund if you requested one. I'm sure there's an explanation. As you may or may not know, there's a lot of reasons the Inclino/Impero kit hasn't come to market yet. It's my understanding that Viewfactor was screwed over by a number of suppliers along the way and in order to actually stay in business they had to focus on doing some other products that were more in demand. In a nutshell, if it wasn't for the DSLR cages and Epic accessories they probably wouldn't be in business at all and everyone's money would have been lost. Not trying to defend them, just trying to give a bit of perspective on things. Just to mention, I was also one of the people who bought a system back then ;-)

Yes, Tony, that pretty much sums it up. They went into business making DSLR cages and other gadgets to stay in business. I also find it weird that there has never been a refund issued to me and my requests for such have gone unanswered. No explanation, no apology, nothing. The last time I was given a response was close to three years ago and I was told flat out that they didn't have the funds to issue everyone refunds at that time and I had to be patient. It's been several months since my last request, so I'll make another one. Curt doesn't have to fear legal reprisal from myself, or others he still owes refunds to. Because to put it bluntly, we're past the timeframe allowed here by most states in the US to file such a claim. Class-Action is still an option without the strict timeframe, but we have to get enough people on-board. And it probably wouldn't happen since we would all burn up more money to proceed with it, it would bankrupt ViewFactor and we wouldn't see more than a couple dollars each, if that. I know of a handful of people still owed money who have looked into that option. ViewFactor still owes me for an Origo controller, two Inclino motors and accessories, as well as a Mirrus MoCo head deposit (#11).

Maybe 2 years ago, I would have still taken the FF and MoCo head if they could have delivered then, but I've had to long since move on to other options. Legally they owe me interest on the money, but I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for that. When I keep saying there's a group of us who are still owed, that's exactly the case. I'm not just the odd guy who has not been refunded. There's a group of us, and I know we're not the only ones, who regularly check in with one another. Several of them are members of these forums here, including long-time members like Curran Giddens, Dustin Cross, myself, Michael Panfeld and several more. They can chime in if they feel so inclined.

IMO, I think were I got screwed is that I was a staunch supporter, even an apologist for Curt back in the days of all the continuous delays and component issues. I've been on plenty of R&D projects and the manufacturing side of things myself. I know how it goes working with foreign suppliers of precision components (it doesn't go, it's a waste of time as Curt learned). Perhaps I wasn't screaming for action and/ or for a refund in the beginning like so many others. As a wheel that didn't squeak enough to get the grease...

So, yes, I'll send them another reminder or request that they still owe me and need to rectify the situation. And until that happens, I see no problem with a little reminder, public or otherwise, every now and then. I don't know about you, but I wouldn't walk into someone's house to talk about my new widget if I still owed several key members of that household a refund for my last widget I couldn't deliver.

You're not the first person who has been under the impression that all the refunds have been sent out. I wonder where that impression or info is coming from? curious...

It is amazing that people are patient and haven't sued. If there is intention to pay, then definitely there should have been part payments and some form of communication to tell the repayment plan. Keeping quiet is not a good thing at all.
