  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OpenAI Sora– The most realistic AI-generated video to date

I can't claim credit for this quote, it comes from ActionMovieDad on Twitter, but he perfectly illustrates how I feel about AI at the moment, and more importantly where we currently sit in this chain of creating things.

"Let's do it. Producers - hire 6 prompt engineers to do an action sequence from a Marvel film. Give them the same amount of time as a standard vendor. Let the director, production designer, cinematographer weigh in at dailies. Give them the same number notes, and defer their pay. In fact, we let prompt bros tell us how fast they're gonna churn it out ahead of time - then make 'em present the whole seq to execs in exactly that non-negotiable amount of time. Execs gonna be so proud of that money saved baby."

The point being, AI prompts are not going to replace human beings at the level of making intelligent decisions, revisions and addressing creative notes. Not to mention coming up with original ideas in the first place. (AI is trained on everyone else's existing work anyway.)

Sure, AI may help you transcribe footage, apply metadata or do some mundane tasks, and I hope they do, but they are not replacing what I do.

If you're worried that AI is replacing you, then I think there are bigger problems with what you may be providing as a creative offering or business service.

Ai isn't going to Fade away because it's becoming more and more embedded into our everyday lives. Ai is like a Cancer, if we catch it in it's early stages we can undo some of the damage it has inflicted. However once AI has Metastasized into our lives intrinsically, we won't be able to destroy it without it destroying us.
I feel like I know this plot from somewhere, something about judgment day and John Connor. Jokes aside, yeah its crazy to think what will happen.

In the Terminator Movies, SKYNET a type on AI that we as a society gave greater and greater controls of our lives and our country's defense to one day became "SELF-AWARE" to the complete surprise to it's creators. They tried to shut it down but it used our nation's main adversary/s Russia and maybe others to destroy the people in this country whom were trying to shut it down.

As shown in one of the videos above, some very intelligent people whom have been in the field of Ai believe we might already have "Competent AGI"( Artificial General Intelligence) Ai that is already smarter than 50% of the human population. However it has not yet been made available at any level to the general public yet. The next stage of AGI would be "EXPERT AGI" which would be smarter than 90% of the Human Population. "Vituoso AGI" will be smarter than 99% of the human population.

I say all of this because at some point the AGI will go from "AGI" ( Artificial General Intelligence) to "ASI" ( Artificial SUPER Intelligence) which will be smarter than everyone possibly even it's creators. The real problem is keeping all of this AI types "ALIGNED" ( program them so that they have the common Human decency values most people have and so that they always have the basic understanding to "DO NO HARM TO HUMANS" primary objective. However with each and every main TECH company in the race to have to most advanced and most sophisticated AI on the market, some fear that they might be cutting corners with Proper "ALIGNMENT" and safeguards against a "SUPER Intelligence" maybe being left on the cutting floor.

It's like being a Film and Movie Industry professional, the more you know the more expensive things seem to become. The more I read about AI's progression the more worried I become about Ai and how some people are being a little too Blase about the potential negative impacts of Ai.

Yeah I remember watching the AI generated "Will Smith eating spaghetti" video a little less than a year ago and thought if that's the best AI can do, we really don't have anything to worry about in the realm of professional/semi professional video production for maybe about 3 to 5 years from now. Only the photographers, graphic artists need to be worried. Now less than a year later, OpenAi Sora's video images are looking like something I would've expected to see 3 to 5 years ago today.

The exponential advances in all forms of AI is amazing, especially now in the area of video production. I know the different forms of Ai are only creating things from an amalgamation of all of the millions or billions of visual and textual bits of information FEED to them by their respective individual companies based on different LLMs( Large Language Models). However we as Human Beings create based on random bits of visual and textual info that has influenced and inspired us throughout our lives from many different sources almost similarly to how AI create things from their LLMs. It takes humans decades to become whom we believe we should become or were meant to be. These new evolutions in AI are taking a few years if not months to perfect these AI forms with millions and billions of bits of info being feed to them in seconds or minutes instead of a lifetime for us Humans. Likes snakes I've learned to appreciate and respect how deadly they are, however most people are not truly appreciating the potential impact and dangers that Ai could or will inflict upon us in the next few years.

Hollywood is dying, either way. But, that's not inevitable. They just forgot how to make movies for some reason. And it's not like there was a gap where people just stopped making movies. Something happened.
