I can't claim credit for this quote, it comes from ActionMovieDad on Twitter, but he perfectly illustrates how I feel about AI at the moment, and more importantly where we currently sit in this chain of creating things.
"Let's do it. Producers - hire 6 prompt engineers to do an action sequence from a Marvel film. Give them the same amount of time as a standard vendor. Let the director, production designer, cinematographer weigh in at dailies. Give them the same number notes, and defer their pay. In fact, we let prompt bros tell us how fast they're gonna churn it out ahead of time - then make 'em present the whole seq to execs in exactly that non-negotiable amount of time. Execs gonna be so proud of that money saved baby."
The point being, AI prompts are not going to replace human beings at the level of making intelligent decisions, revisions and addressing creative notes. Not to mention coming up with original ideas in the first place. (AI is trained on everyone else's existing work anyway.)
Sure, AI may help you transcribe footage, apply metadata or do some mundane tasks, and I hope they do, but they are not replacing what I do.
If you're worried that AI is replacing you, then I think there are bigger problems with what you may be providing as a creative offering or business service.
