  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

looks like things are progressing well. :)

Heh heh heh things are progressing more than they really should be.. We have some new software guys on the REDCINE-X team and they are so excited about us publicly releasing this early Alpha ( against all normal logic ) that they are staying awake over the long weekend to push the Alpha forward.

Jarred,

So my surprise demo of REDCINE-X on last Friday is already obsolete, heh heh heh.

People were so surprised at the demo.

PSSST..... windows version

Please?

Ah, more toys to play with. :) I was on my way to sleep, but I guess that can wait a bit now.

its funny Jean i think your trying to motivate but you are doing the opposite.. comments like this actually make us scratch our heads and wonder why do we even bother.

I'm not trying to motivate, I don't think you should be motivated to show some interest to the Windows platform... I just hope that you'll soon release the PC version, and that this version will allow me to batch convert these R3d files to dpx (I'm fed up with importing manually all these files into After Effects to do it). I'm not the only to think this, but I'm probably one of the fews to dare to say it. I love your camera, but I'm not the kind of person to keep things deep inside :seeya:

PSSST..... windows version

Please?

Hi Cedric, welcome to reduser. You might want to read thru this ENTIRE thread before commenting as this "windows please" is getting tiresome and been addressed by RED ad nauseum. They develop for MAC first, then windows and eventually even, Linux, In time.

most importantly... its FREE software... if you guys really want a windows version so bad, maybe join forces, take a collection, and offer to pay for it's more rapid co-development?

Meantime, please take the time to read these entire threads before requesting something that has been addressed over and over... if its annoying to little ol me, imagine how annoying it is to people who are spending untold amounts of $ developing FREE software for its camera owners. PATIENCE is key with RED DIGITAL. There is only so much one can do in 3 years and so far, their success is unprecedented. A

For now, RED has chosen MAC as their core development platform...love it or hate it, it is what it is.

ATTENTION windows users :badputer:, please stop biting the hand thats feeding us. This is mostly unheard of to have access to Alpha releases... and if you read these threads, jarred, Jim, RED et al is getting tired of these windows requests moments after agreeing to release an alpha build...

do your homework. Thanks

Ahhhhh....

One of the real STREGTHS of RED has been that they have let us play with beta and alpha cameras and software long enough to let everything move on and mature.

The only problem is that people cannot read what is spelled out with big letters everytime we boot an alpha or beta thingy to get even more gorgeous images or better workflows.

OK
Let's crash an app... -;)

If you pick up a starving dog and make him prosperous, he will not bite you.

This is the principal difference between a dog and a man.

When the dog sees the cat fed first all the time - the dog may raise an eyebrow.

But quickly forgets when the food is put in front of him.

:jacked: So if you can choose to be the cat, what's the problem?

BTW, a huge THANK YOU to the REDCINE-X team is in order!!!

True indeed.

Nice updates and tweaks.
Just a quick note; if you click on one of the numeric adjustments, the box highlights (which is ordinary GUI behavior) When you enter your desired number, the box stays highlighted (which is not normal GUI behavior) In a program like Photoshop (for example) entering your new value causes the highlight to go away, confirming you selection.
Also, my grade settings and window placement do not seem to stay when I quit and relaunch. Any secret to this?
Cheers,
Harry

Has the REDCine-X(Alpha) more stability/ features then the ROCKETCine-X(BETA)?... if you had a ROCKET?

What would YOU use?

(BTW: Should you or do you have to use the ™ and © symbols every time you "talk" about a RED Product or Software?:undecided:)

I really appreciate how RED has given it's community privileged access to help refine its apps. It's like getting a behind the scenes on top secret stuff.
But I don't understand the people that clammer, where's this feature, where's this OS version, hurry up with this cuz I needs it! It reminds me of "Rough Cut Lady Song" where after being briefed that this is a "Rough Cut" "first pass", "just started and wanted to get you in for your thoughts," instead of constructive comments and helpful hints they offer... "where are the graphics?" "This needs VO" "why does it say 'missing footage' where the footage should be?" "this could use music" Yes, I'm bitching about the bitchers...

RED has already knocked it out of the park, now they are just ensuring that the other teams can't catch up, keep the constructive comments coming and help RED make their apps kick even more butt.

Sit back, have a soothing tea, enjoy the ride...

with the exception of Jarred's "DOG" of course

EDIT: Back to thread. Did everyone uninstall Alpha Build 1 BEFORE installing this latest Alpha Build?

Thanks

This may already have been discussed, but I just thought I'd ask in case. This is by no means a demand, just a curious question.

Is it likely there will be a Windows version released before December time?

A question for those out there using Alpha2, in case I missed it: Is there a toggle switch for turning on/off any adjustments made? I always like to be able to toggle between a corrected and uncorrected frame to see how far I have pushed (or can push) based on what's contained in the uncorrected image. I can obviously see the reset buttons, but I don't want to remove the work I've done just reference back. Right now, I just find myself looking at the little thumbnails in the browser, but they are too small to really see what's happening. If this is not available yet it would be a nice (and hopefully simple) feature to implement. Thanks.
