  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

ISO 50. Massive curve, but man, it holds awesome. i feel i have more control over the image here than i do in RA! or RC. i've been messing around with old footage and i can make it look better than before.

added a long R3D file to the timeline and added in/out and did some cutting, but how do i get rid of the part of the file i don't want in the timeline?

Tried delete and file-delete, but can't seem to get rid of extra footage that i cut and pasted.

so far loving it...can we also do an export to 422? i see only quicktime along with sizes??

Thanks for sharing this early build. Will the final version have any support for the Kona 3 card?

You can only trim for output now... can't actually cut up the R3D file. That will happen later. This is the Alpha build. A lot of features will be added from here.

Did you want feedback/suggestions or is this strictly a sneak peak?

Did I imagine it or does it automatically scan my hard drive for R3Ds and load them?

Noah

If you click on a drive, it will find all R3D's in that drive. If you drill down to a folder, it will find all the R3D's in that folder.

This is bit off topic but something that hit me while (waiting for Redcine Windows version and Epic-X and while) reading today's newpaper about what the managing director of a big company spoke in a big event of their business area.

This interesting point was, these managers talk about meeting the need of customers and providing them with right services and so on, and while reading this I had to stop for a moment to ask myself: How come these guys talk about the same principles as Jim Jannard but simultaneously I still know so well that in practice there's a huge difference in the underlying business policy. In the end of the day the other ones are interested in the business --whether they sold cars, carrots, eyeglasses did not matter as long it's good business-- while here it's the camera, software, hardware and workflow which matters everything. Obviously, nobody can run bad business for a long time, but the endless interest in Redcode, Redcine, Epic-X etc. speaks for itself. Eventually it shows up what matters. All this is somehow pretty amazing.

Nice thought. Thanks. But truly the whole RED team embraces the philosophy and each is finding a way to improve the business concept without much guidance. I am learning a lot of things from them along the way. Best job I ever had... :-)

You guys might just teach the bigwigs of UI design a thing or two here...

Hi Jim,

I can't figure how to export very high quality.

I set export size to 1080p.

It's fast, looks OK, but looks a bit like if it's been upscaled from 720p.

Is it normal ?

Thanks

Antoine

This is truly amazing as an alpha piece of software! I'm having a bit of trouble exporting and had it unexpectedly quit on me once but that is to be expected. Can't wait to see what the final release brings.

Dont Judge Businesses on what they say , judge them on what they do. most of them pay lip service to being customer focussed. in red's case its true.
