  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

Jarred-

How can we transfer the look that we create in RC-X to camera, like we do in Red Alert? Is that something that'll be coming soon, or will RC-X be able to create the file so we can save it to an SD card and import it into camera?

Any info on this is appreciated, as that's become quite an important step during shooting.

Thanks.

Hey CJ.. all the details will come in due time.. yes that's on the list :)

Are you guys kidding?! This is nutz!
No damn sleep for me tonight, or real work either. Thanks.
This is way too much fun.

Downloading now. If this even solves the problems I've had exporting Tiff's in Old Redcine (or just exporting the first frame and showing a red bar) then I'll be super happy and use this instead of the old beta.

Screen shots look so much nicer

someone mentioned it already but its sure cool to just let the Clip Browser tunnel into an entire volume and find all the clips on the drive.. I have found a ton of old footage that was tucked into odd folders that I totally forgot about.

As of now.. yes.

:-o oh!... :)

Today has been put on hold :) Play time! :)

Dropdown menu for QT DPX TIFF etc has a little scrambled data at the bottom btw.

Hopefully Blackmagic and AJA can do a module :)

Great work guys.

Hey Kaku Have you had the time to test this with the mxo. Would love to know if the same is possible with Kona 3?

Hello Bal,

Yes, I've been testing with MXO, although current MXO beta driver doesn't officially support Snow Leopard.

MXO is different from any other video I/O, it has two modes, one is to use the same way as Kona, Blackmagic, called mastering mode, that you select MXO as output from FCP and Color to output video at HD or SD. The another mode, is called presentation mode, that outputs the desktop to HDSDI. What I'm doing right now is that I place the REDCINE-X's monitor window (thank god it's an independent window now) to the MXO's desktop side, so I can monitor this on my TVLogic XVM-245W. RedRocket accelerate the R3D on desktop playback, too, so this is good and valid way to make decisions on baselight grading (there's a little issue on this beta since the color profile is not quite perfect but close enough). Luca reported MXO beta driver is having issue with audio playback, I'm not connecting to the speakers at this point, so not sure if I have the same issue.

But remember MXO is only 8-bit, so you can only judge the depth of color at 8-bit output.

Modular.. it's one of those things that just seems to make so much sense :0

Casey.. great ideas ( as usual )

Thanks, Jarred.

Say - if you need any help in Amsterdam, I'm game... :-)

1/16 to 1/2 in window, but how can i see 4K 1/1?

when a 4K image is put in and it is 1/2 ... (as i see in the framesize ...)

and i export it again as 4K format. it´s native the original 4K or an upscaling of this 1/2 image i did grade?

Wow. Talk about "hit reset".
This is what Redcine should have been from the start. Holy cow, what a nice GUI. Very logical. Runs reasonably fast even on the kitchen iMac which is RAM-starved (which is where I'm typing bleary-eyed at 5:00 am EST)
Nice work, guys. REALLY REALLY like it already.
Will play with it and post some humble suggestions.
Thank you...
Cheers,
Harry

mac only for this alpha yes sorry Steve.
