  • Hey all, just changed over the backend after 15 years I figured time to give it a bit of an update, its probably gonna be a bit weird for most of you and i am sure there is a few bugs to work out but it should kinda work the same as before... hopefully :)

OK... REDCINE-X time.

I just love this feature >>> play the clip and change any color parameters and the image in the viewer updates and continues to play.
I'm assuming the snapshot setting still needs to enabled. Currently what is the default dir for the snap shots?

Go to the menu and you can set what you want to output stills.

Please try REDCINE-X and get used to the app. It will only get better from here on out...

Makes me want to go back to 30 inch. Hope HP makes DreamColor 30".

okay, silly question, be nice I'm just but beginning to learn about editing with FCP, and never got to use the RR and RA, is R3D the only media that can be imported in to REDCINE-X?

As of now.. yes.

BTW... it works with OSX 10.5 or Snow Leopard. It also works with or without RED Rocket™. If playback or transcodes seem to slow for you, buy a RED Rocket™. Again... pretty easy.

Jim

I was impressed with how well this ran on my late 2008 MacBook Pro 15", I don't even think I have the m9600 turned on in fact. 4GB Ram and this "Alpha" was pretty damn amazing.

Any chance we can get something that denotes that we are getting our proper playback speed, like a little light, green for @ speed, Orange for not able to playback @ speed ( this is assuming the feature isn't already in ). I found it tough to tell if the footage I had was playing at 24fps or not as it is a bunch of straw/grass blowing in the wind.

Otherwise I am totally impressed, and will try this on my Mac Pro 8 core ;)

We also plan to add MXF support very soon.

Jim, Jarred and Team - great work - and thanks for the preview!

Press the H key to get a little help window.

Always useful, thanks. Say, have you seen the way Vlado implements hotkey help within QTakeHD? You hit the key for the hotkey layout and every button's name on the UI toggles from it's function to it's hotkey letter. Brilliant for quickly learning which keys do what. It would ROCK if REDCINE-X added this.

Notice on the progress bar how the Rocket is buffering footage. Pretty sweet, not only can it play real time, but with behaviors like that built in, we'll be off to a good start for 5k on up.

Very cool, indeed. I also noticed this, and I don't have a Rocket installed in this system. So, there must be buffering code written to help playback on non-Rocket systems too. Nice!

REDCINE had a hotkey that showed the FPS when the clip was playing back. Something similar would be great (if it's not in there already).

Again, GREAT WORK all around!

Whoa, kudos to your UI designer, very well put together, and I would know

Glad most of you guys like the little peak behind the curtain so far.... There is alot of stuff to come...

just a heads up, there will be a dark period with minimal updates for the next 2 weeks as the guys now start to unify the code base and add platform support.

And yes REDCINE-X is going to be modular, so 3rd parties will be able to develop for it.
:w00t: what you guys are doing is Amazing ... Exquisite

Modular = amazing. Thank you! The way it should be. :thumbup1:

Modular.. it's one of those things that just seems to make so much sense :0
