I really like your grading... I am still to figure out how to get the skin tones from your third pic in the first post. ...

... simply by using dropper in shop to know whats going on there and then trim channels in curves or in local colors or in balance etc. to get same values as in original. :wink:
But you need at least similar kind of picture with enough color informations in every channel. Not something like 8 bit cmyk :sad:

By shop do you mean photoshop? the dropper, is that the thing that lets you click somewhere to see the values of a pixel? I know how to use curves, don't know where local colors is, and know how to use balance.

What I am wondering is if there is a formula for that look... I would call it the Guess look... but a lot of other fancy brand names use it. Is there a particular balance to strike to give it that golden brown glow?

Hey Rob, the formula for that skin tones is:

1- Get a 13 days full body tan in Fuerteventura
2- Shoot a little underexposed both flash and ambient (8000/2,8 in this case)
3- Paint on the skin a light screen layer mask
4- Desat only the red channel, only on the skin

Its kinda confusing.

Yes Photoshop, yes Eye dropper, but sorry for Local Color it should be Selective Color.

I am just going here for inspiration. Just how others see things thru lens of their camera so I tend to belive to all what I see. That's why I was bit confused at that particular picture. :biggrin:

That was Alabama Hills in Lone Pine, CA two nights ago. Mt Whitney is visible on the left. It was very beautiful out there under the moonlight.

Hey KidRobot, I can't see them for some reason. And I agree on 320 being an amazing photo.

Tom, I wonder however why you are shooting such high ISOs.. not that they are not very clean, but a little longer exposure wouldn't hurt right? I am not as avid of a photographer but wouldn't a composite be best? One of the sky with your robot head and one for the ground stationary?
